Bill Center has the game preview: Padres feast on another lefty. I still remember Oliver Perez in his first start with the Padres when he struck out Ichiro. Actually that's pretty much all I remember everything else is a dark void.
Hairston leading off as he gets to start versus lefties. Gerut has the day off.

I love Uverse. Way more HD than Time Warner, more reliable, you can DVR 4 channels at once, and watch your recordings on any TV in the house. I can also get NFLN, which TW doesn’t offer.

Not a bad strategy
None of our back-end rotation are really tested this season on higher pitch counts. Silva fell apart yesterday in the 5th ‘cause he was in the 80s after only pitching into the 60s the prior game. It’s early in the season, and starters with lesser ability are still weaker.
Not that I would want to get into our bullpen, if I was the other team. I just don’t want to see them worn out before the end of April.

Was actually in response to a question as to why college baseball isn’t as popular as college basketball or college football. I think my answers (when not taken completely literally) are valid. The games tend to not be as interesting and that’s partly because even the best players on the field typically still have at least 2 years of minor leagues before they see major league time.

At least a good player has a longer life
in baseball than in football or basketball. It’s not nearly as brutal on the body (well, if you stay out of the way of the ball).

Hmmm....
The rules governing minor league baseball, the players union, guaranteed contracts, the anti-trust exemption etc are all much more likely reasons as to why college ballplayers don’t go straight to the big leagues as opposed to it somehow being a more difficult sport.

You can choose between the home and away broadcast. Of course, so far this season, I haven’t been able to get my channel 4 feed to work consistently. For some reason, I always get a better feed from the other broadcast. Sigh.
