Around SBN: Indy 500: 'Greatest Spectacle In Racing' Set For Sunday

Padres had a Press Conference where once again they forgot to invite us. Anyway Friar John breaks down all the deals. My favorite is probably the $5 meal deal that gives you a dog, soda, peanuts, popcorn and candy cookie. That'd cost you like $30 bucks last season.

Padres web site

Says its a cookie, not candy.

I don’t know who to believe.

If it is the same hotdogs as the dollar dogs last season

Those were the most disgusting things I have ever eaten in my life.

Brady Hoke, Al Borges, and Rocky Long. Aztec football is back!

Who is up for a 5fer5 challenge?

I want to see a fanpost of someone’s experience trying to consume the $5 meal 5 times in one game.

Gauntlet thrown

Sounds like a plan.

Beer prices down

wonder if they’d consider dropping 3.2 beer

You'd think at least one person from the Padres would invite

their friendly neighborhood blogger to this kind of thing? This kinda thing is right in our wheel house.

by jbox on Mar 3, 2009 2:41 PM PST reply actions

You'd think.

This place is frequented by people that care as much about that team as anyone. Hopefully Moorad makes some serious changes in the marketing department.

I guess the GLB is good enough for their season ticket sales people to scan as a device to try and sell tickets…but not good enough for the two guys that run it to get a invite to something like this? Dumb.

what he said

You’d think that they’d want someone from the SB Nation Padres blog to post pictures and sing the praises of the $5 Value meal. To get fans excited about going to the stadium. To spread the word for you.

It'd be cool if you could barter or haggle for concessions

You give me a hot dog and I’ll give you this paperclip.

by jbox on Mar 3, 2009 2:42 PM PST reply actions

Or do it iternerant worker style

A hot dog for one inning of serving concessions.

Oh wait, that doesn’t work because those people don’t get paid. Damn.

They'd been blabbering about this on

DOUBLE X 1090, DOUBLE X 1090 DOT COM, I’d heard it twice, but I was unable to actually translate the message into anything, and they’re not easily confused with credible sources.

I guess I picked the wrong time

…to move from San Diego! The $5 deal is great, as is making the Coca-Cola deal an option as a single-game deal, rather than only in a 4-pack. I suspect a lot of teams will be forced to do deals like these to get people in the seats in this economy.

Great deals at Petco this season.

maybe if the Padres

put this much effort into on the field performance and not into concessions they might be able to put together a winning team. Maybe the marketing team should switch places with the Front Office.
