Padres Roster Changes
- Mariners acquire Chris Burke for cash considerations. "The bottom line is they like who they have," Burke said. "I feel like I played well."
- Padres return Nova to the Yankees. I wonder if anybody has ever really burnt their bridges with a club when they were picked up on Rule 5 only to be returned a few months later.
- Venable took his demotion in stride. "He was realistic," Towers said. "He's one of our guys. At some point in time I see him getting regular playing time up here. But now's not the time. Knowing Will, he'll go down there and grind it out in Triple-A and force our hand if someone is injured."

Bud Black, if nothing else, he's even keel.
I thought Nova had a good chance to make the team.
Just FYI, Padres are on MLB network live at 4 PST today.
I want to thank the good Lord for making me a Philip Rivers fan.

I think the Padres hoped he would
but he didn’t look very good. Looked awful when I saw him pitch.
Winfield goes back to the wall. He hits his head on the wall -- and it rolls off! It's rolling all the way back to second base! This is a terrible thing for the Padres. - Jerry Coleman
