The Padres front office did a lousy job of trying to improve this team. I’ll chalk up part of this for the turmoil in ownership limiting funds, but a sabermetrically oriented front office should really do better. The only thing that’s really improving the Padres here is regression to the mean. It’s tough to be as bad as they were last year.

Disagree
I think they worked their butts of TRYING to improve. I think it is unfair to say they haven’t tried. Maybe all the moves won’t work but the last thing that can be said is thay KT Depo etc havent put the effort in.

You know what's lousy
Describing the front office like that. When I think of the Padres front office (not including John Moores) I think of phrases like, “Hands were tied”, “Scrapped together”, “Made do” and “Hung out to dry”. Saying they did a lousy job is like saying a mouse thrown in the snake cage did a lousy job of avoiding becoming lunch.

I think they worked hard
to trade Khalil for a couple of dead arms.

How are you going to throw "sabermetrics" out there
and then critique the Padres offense without park factors?
