Spring Training Open Thread: 3/2, Padres vs. Brewers
Corey Brock with the line up and the low down:
CF, Jody Gerut
2B, Chris Burke
DH, Cliff Floyd
LF, Emil Brown
1B, Kyle Blanks
RF, Drew Macias (filling in for Brian Giles, strained left quad)
C, Eliezer Alfonzo
3B, Travis Denker
SS, Everth Cabrera
SP, Josh Geer (two innings)
He says Trevor isn't traveling during Spring Training so we won't see him today.
Giles has a quad strain, so he's out of the line up.

I guess I never noticed this before...
But is the DH just standard in Spring Training, even when playing NL teams?
If I'm not mistaking
managers can agree to using a DH instead of letting the pitcher hit in Spring Training

"Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!"
two walks and then an Emil Brown 3 run shot. Now it’s tied at 3.

Latos
Talk before spring training was that he could make the team mid year this season. Now it looks like he probably needs to full more years in the minors, before we have an idea if he will be a MLBer
"Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!"
hes doing terribly so far this Spring
hopefully he has time to turn it around

I must admit
I didn’t burn that hat myself, I found the picture on the internets. The best I’ve done is draw the no-smoking sign (red circle with a line through it) over the LA on a white Dodger hat.
DODGERS, RED SOX, YANKEES, BRONCOS, PATRIOTS and RAIDERS all suck. Especially the Dodgers.

That talk seems misguided
Latos played an injury shortened season in Fort Wayne. He’d have to jump up 4 levels from that to make the big leagues. In addition to which, the majors are a longer season than the minors and for a guy with durability issues it seems unwise to extend his season. I would say a realistic optimistic would target his major league debut in 2011. And even that would mean he’d skip at least one level or split a season between two levels.
The Padres know that they need this guy to build up his arm strength and get through his injury issues before rushing him to the Padres.
1-10-DEN 18 (9:52) (Shotgun) 6-J.Cutler pass short right intended for 19-E.Royal INTERCEPTED by 93-L.Castillo (95-S.Phillips) at DEN 18. 93-L.Castillo to DEN 14 for 4 yards (62-C.Wiegmann). 6-J.Cutler pouts ob to DEN 25 for 11 yards.
Everth
sounds like he can pick it.

sounds better this season than last season

And to my enjoyment
Jerry hasn’t deteriorated as much as I thought he would have.

I'll bet Giles' Ex stabbed him in the quad with her heels.

Jae Kuk had a scoreless inning, too
In that inning, he had a strikeout. Ryu inflicts damage with individual strikes rather than combinations. His Shōryū-ken does only one hit, so Ryu can effectively use this move at full power against airborne opponents. Ryu focuses more on the Hadou principle of his style, which translates to him being very skilled with his usage of ki – Ryu has the most concentrated Hadōken amongst all users.
Damn straight.

He looked good in his 1st outing too
since he’s rule 5, seems like hes got a pretty good chance to make it into the bullpen!
