Open Thread Mexico vs. Venezuela 6 PM MLB Network

For those of you who have not been following it, the Caribbean Series has been going on for the past week. It is a 6 game round robin tournament where the team with the best record at the end of the 6 games is declared the winner. After 4 games, Mexico is 3-1 and Venezuela is 4-0. What this means is, tonight's game is basically the championship, since if Venezuela wins, they win the tournament. If Mexico wins, the next games will decide the champion. I have no idea what happens if both teams end up 5-1 but we will cross that bridge when we get there.
So why do we care? First of all, baseball fans in general will enjoy this series because this is high level baseball and some great games have been played so far. Padre fans however should be particularly interested because of the number of current and ex-padres on the Mexican team. Current Padres Adrian Gonzalez, Edgar Gonzalez, and Arturo Lopez and ex-Padres Ruben Rivera and Miguel Ojeda are also on the Mexican team. Adrian has been on and off so far; he went 3-4 with 3 HRs the other night but has been relatively cold the rest of the way. Edgar however, has been on fire! He is the leading hitter of the series, going 4-6 last night and hitting .550 overall for the series.
So I implore you, if you have MLB Network (If you live in San Diego you do), (unless you don't have cable TV or Direct TV), you should watch and blog with me tonight at 6 PM. I'll of course be rooting for Mexico. If you want to join The Kipper in Mexicali getting bombed off Tecate, I will pray for your safe return for the war zone.

He plays good defense, has a decent arm, and is a team player. Plus, he reminds me of the good old days of Klesko and Nevin lol.
