Padres Spring Training Cliches

I love these. Once again Rotoauthority has compiled a list of Spring Training cliches chronicling players attempts to gain/lose weight, having laser eye surgery, etc. in preparation for the '09 season.

Only bad thing is that there are no Padres listed. At first I was a bit disappointed not to see someone like Headley add 20lbs of muscle but then I figured that our boys have probably kept their new routines/procedures under wraps.

Star-divide

Now this is pure speculation but here are a few things I believe a few of our guys might have done in the off season. Feel free to speculate yourselves and add on.

Heath Bell - Shaved his goatee in an attempt to lose weight instead of giving up his beloved cookies.

Brian Giles - Started taking Karate lessons to improve mobility, flexibility and core strength. Insists that it was not to better defend himself from his psycho ex.

Jake Peavy - Had laser surgery to remove a "Go Cubs" tattoo that he got one drunken night in Vegas.

Any other thoughts or speculations?

Heath Bell said parenting his children this past offseason was effective exercise. Among their favorite activities together was yoga-like stretching that Bell said improved his flexibility. "He’s lost a few pounds," Black said of Trevor Hoffman’s successor, who also is sporting a shorter haircut.
