Jed Hoyer talks to NESN.com

Padres GM Jed Hoyer on Boston's Chances of Landing Adrian Gonzalez (Video)

I wish they'd turn down the interviewer's volume and turn Jed up.

Red Sox spy?

Does anyone else get the sense that Jed hasn’t quite let go of his Red Sox ties? I’d be scared if he made a trade with them at this point, simply because I’m not sure he could be completely objective in dealing with them. I’m not trying to start a conspiracy theory, just an observation.

I would think it would be the exact oposite

Hoyer knows any trade he makes with the Sox will be heavily scrutinized, if it looks weak or does not work out in the Padres favor it will be a stigma that follows him for the rest of his career. I think Hoyer has been a little gun shy at this point because he knows his first trade is going to set how other GM’s look at him.

I don't think he will make a trade with Boston right away

for that very reason. His first trade WILL NOT be with his former employer.

I think Kouz goes today. Maybe Bell by the end of the week.

I dont think he makes a move durring the winter meetins

I think other GM’s are low-balling him hoping that he will be so excited to make his first trade that he may react too quickly. I like that Hoyer hasn’t made a move yet I think it means that he is taking his time and not just going out and trying to make a big name for himself early. Look at what happened to the Rangers GM his first few months on the job.

Eh, I didn't get much out of that.

Because I’m at work and watched it with the sound off.

So, NESN brought a camera crew and didn’t book a room to do interviews? The hallway was the best option?

That also got me thinking that it’s going to be weird that a bunch of Red Sox fans are probably going to be casually rooting for the Pads this year, right? Is that a plus or minus in the karma column?

They have all been doing that

I watched some MLB Network interviews, and they have a table set up in a lobby

Red Sox fans rooting for the Padres

Is the Karmic equivalent of robbing a covey of nuns, who are on their way to feed the poor.

I didnt see an SD logo on Hoyer

I wonder if he is in Garfunkels dog house?

by Grey Suit on Dec 9, 2009 8:31 AM PST reply actions

I bet if he put a Boston logo on him...

and proposed a Beckett/Ortiz trade for Dontrelle Willis, Dave Dombrowski would accept it having no idea that Jed works for the Pads now.

I think this is a no-logo affair

Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? ◔ヮ◔
