Winter Meeting Rumor: Kouz to the Giants
Here it is on MLBtrade rumors:
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/12/giants-padres-discussing-kouzmanoff.html
I like Kouz, but don't think he fits into the long term plans, with Chase needing to be at 3B plus a number of good prospects that should be given there chance in the next 2 seasons. Blanks and Veneable need to play everyday this season along with Chase.
While the market for 3b is saturated right now, I still think we can do better than Lewis an Frandensen. I would rather us take a few flyers on some High-A or AA talent..

Darren Smith...
According to his FB page the Padres are also talking to the Twins about Kouz for “starting pitching”.
Craig Elston
was saying on his twitter (619… something or other) that the Twins offered Glen Perkins, but the Padres turned them down. I feel like we have so many options with our starting pitching that we have to get guys back that we know belong in the rotation. That’s a lot to ask for Kouz (and probably no one will give it up), but if we just get back another high minors starting prospect with back of the rotation potentials, what are the chances he ever starts more than a handful of games for us given that we have those guys in spades?

That's interesting
Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? ◔ヮ◔

nice
To me, I don’t care what we get back for him. Simply getting him off our hands would be a success to me.

To follow up on my comment above
And show that I agree that we still should trade Kouz for something… anything. I think that we need to get back someone that throws hard, or plays catcher or is a right handed CF. At least if you get a hard thrower or two you can stick them in the bullpen in case we have injuries or ineffectiveness there. Hard throwers always have a chance in the bullpen. Glenn Perkins is not a hard thrower.

It's not like he's Chris Chambers or something

I think its asking too much to get a starting CF or C for Kouz
his .300 OBP and the fact that the Padres want to move him to make room for Headley kills his trade value IMO. I think the Padres will end up trading him to an AL team for a controllable backup IF (kind of like Salazar) and possibly a AA flame thrower who has not panned out as well as projected.
i wasn't really thinking that they'd get those things
Just that they need thrm (and I was think backup c rather than starter and a blocked aaa rh cf would fit the bit as well.)

im glad
im glad that Jed is not dumb enough to stick with Kouz – he puts up decent HR/RBI numbers but his peripheral numbers are horrible. (I said this last year, but) It’s time to move on… Honestly, I’d take Lewis and Frandsen in return.
mission accomplished.
Unfortunately
Lewis is already 30 and can’t play a decent CF and Frandsen can’t hit or field well enough to make it as a utility player. I’d rather have some low level power arms myself.

I'd rather had buster posey
