I thought the Red Sox signing Cameron and Lackey was kinda weird. I know this rumor has been going on since Hoyer was hired, but I just don't see the Red Sox having Cameron replace Bay's bat in the lineup. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I think this moves means that they dont trust DiceK to stay healthy

and don’t want to put all of thier hope in the Buchholz basket.

I don't necessarily see it.

The assumption is the Sox signed Cameron to play CF so they could trade Ellsbury, let Bay walk and have Adrian as the big bat in their lineup. Lackey would be the replacement for Buchholz, who would also be traded to SD. But that leaves Boston with an outfield of Mike Cameron, JD Drew, and Jeremy Hermida.

I just don’t see that happening… are the Sox really that much better with a A-Gon at 1st, Youkilis replacing Lowell at 3rd, and an outfield of Cameron/Drew/Hermida? I don’t think so. So, I don’t think this Cameron move had anything to do with any potential San Diego trade (unless it’s a Bell for Ellsbury trade which I would be cool with).

The guy from the Boston Globe

said that the first piece was signing Lackey. Then, I heard that the Lowell deal is big because the catcher they get from Texas would be shipped w/ Buchholz.

It was sounding optimistic that Adrian was going to stay after the winter meetings. I hate the word prospects.

The current consensus

seems to be that if the Red Sox are willing to give up Buccholz and then either Kelly or Westmoreland this deal is going to get done. I’ve been trying to figure out as much as I can about those players, and it’s clear that they are good players. I’m still really split about if it’s something the Padres should do, and I’m curious about what everybody else is thinking. If the Red Sox break down and agree to give the Padres what they ask for…. will people be happy?

When I saw the Red Sox signed Lackey the first thing I thought was that they would now be more likely to move Buccholz, making an Adrian deal more likely. I dunno though…I’m still holding onto my illusions that the Padres can be decent this season if they keep Adrian.

This deal leaves the Padres with too many holes next year

unless Elsburry is part of the deal.

If the Padres trade Adrian that means Blanks moves to 1B, that leaves both CF and LF open, assuming the Padres trade Kouz (which they have to because Headley does not have the bat or glove to stay in LF). Ramirez would be a nice part of the deal but he may be damaged goods.

Gawd I wish everyone would STFU about Adrian and the Red Sucks

Basically everything news outlet has said Hoyer is asking for the world. THERE IS NO NEWS, Hoyer has no intention of trading Adrian, unless he gets something Boston won’t give up. Focus on something else for once.

I know it makes you kind of miss KT

I forgot the offseason are kind of boring without him.

KT would make us do work

trade for a “who the hell is this guy??”-type player, so you’d have to task yourself to research for hours on end.
