Ray Kroc is classier than Bud Adams

I heard this story on the radio the other night in St Louis. Mike Evans, entertainment reporter recounted a great story about Ray Kroc during one of the Padres miserable years.

Here's the link to Mike Evans blog.

the Padres owner was McDonald’s king Ray Kroc. In the 1st inning, the Padres made 3 errors on the first 3 Dodger batters. I was sitting in the Press Box and saw Kroc get up from the owners box, walk to the P.A. announcers booth, grab the mic and over all the booing of the fans, say, I am as disgusted with this team as much as you are, and to apologize. I would like to buy everybody a free beer. Go to the concession stands now, it’s on me. You never saw 18,000 people get up and run to the concession stand so fast. Ray was all class, Bud Adams is all ass!

Well yes and no...

Think Mr. Evans is taking some liberties here. He did go to the P.A. booth and make the first part of the statement and the apology during a game. But he didn’t make the beer statement. And it was near the end of the game and I don’t believe it was against the Dodgers.

Thank you for waving at me.

Being from St Louis

I’d never heard the story before, so I really have no idea what was true and what wasn’t. Either way, it’s cool that he grabbed the PA during the game

Yeah

pretty sure the beer thing didn’t happen. The public apology though did.

I thought it was maybe a different story of another instance

Kroc also started several foundations for alcoholism, according to wiki, which currently reads:

Ray Kroc was the founder of mcdonalds. when he left school he started a introment selling buissness but it failed and after a couple of months it was closed down. he decided to make a fast food restaurant so begun by making a milkshake make.
