I would think not...

I would be a nice thought, but counter productive. Anyways I dont see this happening, its just Kenny Williams doing what he always does. If it were to happen, I think Gordon Beckman and Jordan Danks would be included. Which is a nice starting point.

Just to be clear...

I do not think we’re getting Peavy back. Nor do I want Jake Peavy back.

by Drama on Nov 16, 2009 11:33 AM PST reply actions

Just to be clear...

This IS Chicago media we are talking about. So the truth is probably the exact opposite what they have reported.

Chicago Media?????????

It is a White Sox blog that has been around for 4 months.
Peavy has been in Chicago longer than they have.

So your saying they made it up?

I am saying

that a 4 month old White Sox blog is not exactly the “Chicago Media”.

by strummer on Nov 16, 2009 1:14 PM PST up reply actions

I am saying that the term MEDIA

gets tossed around too broadly.
Nowhere have I questioned anyones integrity. I simply do not buy the idea that Sox.Net is part of the CHICAGO MEDIA.
Is this link the San Diego media?

the Padres are in preliminary talks with Marlins in a deal that would send Heath Bell to the fish for Dan Uggla. Wow this rumor stuff is easy when you don’t have cite your sources by name.

King Jed would not be dealing AG before he meets with Boggs.

i would imagine this didnt happen early this morning and then King Jed got on the phone and is working a three way trade out in the afternoon. I hope Jed wouldnt trade our franchise centerpiece before his nameplate gets posted on the door.

Don't know why or how

Why would the Angels get involved to get Konerko?
Why would the Sox try and get a player who’ll be ridiculously expensive in two years?
What makes the Sox think they could get THE BEST PLAYER we have for a group of prospects that won’t include their best?
Why would the Angels contribute big prospects to get Konerko??

Not a chance this is real

by TheAxManCometh on Nov 16, 2009 4:14 PM PST reply actions

I can give you the bloggy answers to all those questions

1. Angels needed a right handed bat with power and have DH spot open.
2. Sox don’t care that much about two years from now. They are always in “win now” mode and just want to exchange Konerko’s salary for AGon’s salary while getting better at the position. Simple enough, cheaper and better for 2 years, worry about later, later.
3. This article says that they wouldn’t want to include Danks the elder, Ramirez, Beckham or Floyd. Their best prospect is Daniel Hudson so presumably he would be in the deal. They mention that Danks the younger could be included and he’s one of their top prospects and presumable another top prospect in Tyler Flowers could be. Potentially, that is quite a package from them (even if it isn’t quite Adrian-worthy, but it might be better than those Red Sox “deals” depending on who gets included from the Angels).
4. I don’t think there would be a big prospect. It would probably be a middle infielder since they have a few of those lying around. Maybe a lower level guy too.

There is a chance this is real, but its so contingent on some pretty gutsy (and by gutsy I probably mean odd and highly criticized) moves that it has a snowball’s chance in hell of actually working out.
