PADRES: Club to resume search for a GM
A Padres front office source speculated that hiring Woodfork ---- a Harvard graduate who was hired by Moorad in 2005 and previously worked as the director of baseball operations for the Boston Red Sox ---- wouldn't necessarily constitute raiding the Diamondbacks because it doesn't involve current GM Josh Byrnes. - XX Sports Radio: Jeff Moorad (MP3)
The Padres CEO joins Scott & BR in-studio for a whole hour to talk to the Padre fans. -

Unfinished Business: Looking At The Jake Peavy Trade
I won't even try to convey my devastation when I heard the news. It was absolutely terrible. All of you who have lost a beloved player know how it feels. I felt like a close family member had moved far, far away, and I would never be able to see them again. It was simply terrible.

Is anybody going to listen to that hour long Moorad radio appearance?
I don’t know if I have the patience. If you do, let us know what he said.

I heard the end of it on the way to work
Someone called in to complain about Sweet Caroline being played at the ballpark, and Moorad said music has become the hottest topic of discussion around the office, next to ticket prices. They want to get it right.
Then someone from Boston called in and the sound of her accent made me want to just crash into the Sprinter.

They need to fix the music badly
but I’m not sure they have anybody with good musical taste in the organization.

Seriously need to get rid of that Bob Dylan song
A kid who has a unicorn ranch in his room cannot call other people weird. Yes, we know about "Rancho Unicorno."

That's the thing
It’s like asking the fanbase what they want on their Tombstone.

I'm just asking for a little variety
I realize that trying to get people to agree on songs just isn’t going to happen, but I can’t take Gary Glitter or Zombie Nation anymore. I’ll give need a tombstone if I hear those again.
I’d actually like less music. Not everybody needs at bat music. I want to enjoy the sounds of the ballpark and be able to talk with peeps without shouting the whole game.

I just listened to it again
but I made this one better.
It’s so glorious. It may be the most amazing, and terrifying, thing I’ve ever created.

how about just come classic organ music
and need to ditch the lame, epic clips from 300 for Heath Bell or whenever they are used. all we need is PSA and the rally bell

The highlights went like this
The payroll isn’t final, but the first number will be four.
Full season tickets prices are staying flat or going down, but some 20 and 40 game plans will go up.
Moving up to 49% ownership in March.
The net worth of the dirty dozen is multiple billions.

My favorite part
was him saying that the payroll would definitely go up next season. Then he starts talking about how towards the end of the season the payroll was in the 20’s and that he sees the payroll being in the 40’s. At the beginning of the season the payroll was in the 40’s…..there is that lawyer/agent/owner spin that he has done time and time again since he’s been here. He chooses whatever time period is more beneficial to him. If we were to bring up opening day payrolls then he might be saying that the payroll will be around the same…..not considerably higher like he’s making it seem.

It's going to be hard
To moderately increase the payroll and actually improve the team’s outlook. You’re either looking at signing guys to modest that aren’t likely to be better than our current guys or overpaying for guys that would prefer to sign with proven winners in bigger markets (who will probably pull a Giles with a couple of years). So, the new owners may very well end up being cheapskates, but I’m not sure that looking like cheapskates in 2010 may actually be what’s best for the team.
