Padres' Adrian Gonzalez Could Be Just What Red Sox Ordered This Offseason - Eric Ortiz - NESN.com
A lot of things have to shake out before Theo Epstein is introducing Adrian Gonzalez as a Red Sox at a news conference. But if the Red Sox can figure out a way to get him and every other chip falls into place for them this offseason, they could be taking joy rides in duck boats next fall. -

Masur's Musings: Yankees Use A CC Rider...
I'm not a Dodger fan by any stretch of the imagination. But I am rooting for them in this respect. I certainly hope that the impending divorce of owner Frank McCourt and wife Jamie McCourt. Padre fans know already that this can and will affect ownership and play on the field if it gets out of hand. -

Stephen Strasburg's professional debut, a 3 1/3-inning scoreless outing in the Arizona Fall League on Friday night, may have been a preview of great things to come. -
POSTGAME on Channel 4: Behind the Scene with Ed Barnes
This has nothing to do with the Padres but I just happen to like Ed Barnes and Jenny Cavnar, they have a good rapport.

HAHA
I hate wordpress. I separated paragraphs but it always bunches everything together for me for some reason. Anytime I wanted to list numbers I had to use multiple dashes to line it up.

The Red Sox (and the Yankees)
think that you can buy off anyone… Do you really think Adrian would leave the carne asada cookouts and bible study groups of San Diego for Boston baked beans and pagan witchcraft?.

I seriously asked him when I first walked in
Why are you meeting with me? He said it was a right time and right place type of moment. And yes my smack talking did play a part in the meeting.

I find it hard to imagine we'd send Adrian to Boston at this point.
The primary pieces we’d get back would be pitching depth—Buchholz, Bard, plus others. Those are good players to have, but we just added a whole bunch of pitchers already through the Peavy and Hairston deals. We’re not nearly as thin there as we were.
Boston isn’t nearly as flush with position players they can part with. We’d have to get Ellsbury, plus others. I’m not sure who the Red Sox have to play center field as well as Jacoby.
And lastly, I’m not sure that Moorad wants to get rid of Peavy and Adrian in 6 months’ time—effectively unloading the club’s two most popular players.
Obviously anything can happen, but I have to think that’s less likely than ever at this point.
Greg Maddux for manager.
