a pitcher who was older than most of the guys he faced last year and still had a K/9 of 6.5 and a whip of 1.36!

I saw that.

That’s really sad. He and Clay Kirby were actually pretty good pitchers who had the misfortune
of being on a bad expansion team. Despite the poor W-L records, they both had years
with solid ERA numbers in the early 1970s.
