Baseball was invented in the UK?
This BBC article is from September but I'm just seeing it for the first time now. William Bray wrote of the game in his diaries when he was a teenager back in 1755.
"It contains a reference to him playing baseball. What intrigued me is he is playing it with a load of young ladies."
Nice.

Hmmm
just because he was talking about swinging sticks and balls at the “young ladies” doesn’t necessarily mean he was talking about baseball.
Oh yeah I went there.

I remember reading something about this in the HoF. It must be true.

Watched
Ken Burns Baseball last night on MLB Network and they covered the early history of baseball…long before it was “invented” in Cooperstown, it’s said that kids played variations of bat ball even before coming to America. The invention happened in Newark when the Knickerbockers formalized play and set rules, etc.
Don't hate the game, hate the nerds!
