Garret Olsen traded to Seattle
Just go traded to Seattle. What does this mean for Jake to the Cubs?

I hope that this will kill the deal once and for all.
I prefer the Braves deal Yunel Escobar would be a great addition to lineup and we could scoop up some free agents with the left over money.
I guess I have to type twelve more words in order for this to get posted.

If you thought that is true
You were listened to way too much cub-propaganda.

Trade Pie and Cedeno for a pitcher that couldn’t crack the Mets rotation last year?

Cedeno and Pie were both out of options.

If you take all their moves as a whole
When they picked up Miles and Gathright they basically gave Cedeno and Pie their walking papers because there wouldn’t be room on the roster for them. They happened to get “a guy who couldn’t crack the Mets starting rotation” as opposed to releasing them and getting nothing.

Heilman's not that bad
I mean, last year he was pretty bad, but he still had a K% near 10. His problems came from an uncharacteristically high BB% and if he gets that under control, he can be serviceable. From 05 to 07, he posted FIPs of 2.97, 3.28, and 3.86, respectively. Those are good, if not going the wrong direction.
The problem would seem to be that the dumped Cedeno and Pie for Miles and Gathright, who both suck. They’ll get a combined $3 million next year, with Miles signed to a two year deal. It’s easy to get the sense that the Cubs don’t know what they’re doing and are just throwing money at their problems.
Which makes it even more upsetting that Towers wasn’t able to dupe them.
