Matty V...M.I.A?

So it still is tough for me to deal with the fact that Matty V. will not be entertaining us through another tough year in 2009...but I understand that he had bigger things coming to him.

I would love to hear a snippet of the new guy for CH 4, but i am really not expecting anything close to Matt.

Meanwhile the MLB network has started up and after watching for the first 2 weeks I have not seen Matty V. at all yet.  I thought he had left to be the "network host"...however I have yet to see him.  I expected him to be a main focus of the channel but so far I have watched tons of the Hot Stove Report and all the other shows that rerun over and over and still no sign of Matt, besides in those commercials for the network.

Has anyone else seen him?

I miss him already.

Also, while I am making a fanpost...I have to also vent about the All-Star Game.  How the hell does St. Louis already get an All-Star game in their new stadium while we have had the perfect venue for the past 5 years and have gotten nothing?  We need to step up to get into contention for an All-Star game.  With tons of great new hotels downtown, and a great atmosphere and brand new stadium I don't understand how we are not in line for the game yet.  I want to see HR derby smashing balls off the Western Metal Building. wtf.

Matty V

I saw an MLB Channel commercial with him, but I don’t think he’s going to be doing anything for them before they start their in season programming. The only studio show they currently have is Hot Stove and he wasn’t schedule to host that show. They will have a normal news and highlights show that will run every night during the season. Expect to see him there.

All Star Game

My understanding is that since San Diego had two All Star games in less than a 30 year span, MLB feels that San Diego shouldn’t get another until others get a fair chance. It’s not like the Super Bowl where there are only so many hospitable cities in late January. Since it’s in the summer, all 30 teams are eligible to get a crack at it. San Diego will just have to wait until most of the teams get their All Star games.

Also...

We got to host part of the WBC, so in MLB eyes I’m sure that covers the All-Star showcase being here perhaps.

Fox Bowl Games

I know he did at least one bowl game (Orange?) for Fox and their BCS package. I’ve not seen him on MLBN as of yet myself.

Bears game

I was back home in IL for the holidays and he called the Bears v Texans game on week 17. However his entertaining broadcasting did nothing to smooth over the fact that the Bears let the playoffs slip through their fingers.

Let me try this again

Friar John

There are several reasons to check out the new 24-hour baseball channel on Monday.
First, it marks former Padres play-by-play voice Matt Vasgersian’s debut as the primary studio host for the network. It’s always good to hear what Matty V has to offer.

Matty V

was on the Hot Stove show today at 4:00PM. He said it was his first show and they were giving him a hard time saying maybe they might shove a pie in his face or something. It was good to see him.
