Padres Statement thanks Trevor Hoffman

I was mentioning the other day that I found it strange that nobody in the Padres Front Office thanked Trevor Hoffman for his years of service.  Well they just released carefully worded statements, probably checked over by a team of lawyers.

John Moores:

“It has been a privilege watching Trevor earn 552 saves in a Padres uniform. He has had an extraordinary career in San Diego and we wish him well on his journey to the Hall of Fame.”

Sandy Alderson:

“Padres fans, including me over the last several years, have been privileged to witness Trevor’s year in, year out excellence. The sound of “Hells Bells” and the appearance of Trevor jogging to the mound late in a game will be sorely missed, as will his many off-field contributions to the San Diego community.  We wish him well in Milwaukee.”

Kevin Towers:

“Trevor has meant a lot to this organization and to the San Diego community over the last 16 years.  We are going to miss hearing “Hells Bells” and seeing Number 51 walk through that center-field gate.  He has been a constant professional both on and off the field and we wish him the best of luck as he continues his Hall of Fame career.”
