3. San Diego Padres (63-99, 5th Place - National League West)

From in it until the last day of the regular season to never even a factor, the ‘08 San Diego Padres only redeeming quality for their fans was that they never got their hopes up. By the end of April, the Padres were nine games out of first place and things never got better from there. They did avoid 100 losses by one game and Adrian Gonzalez had an impressive individual performance but not much else went right for San Diego. Even their ace, Jake Peavy, spent part of the year on the disabled list and finished 10-11 despite his stellar 2.85 ERA thanks to baseball’s worst offense.

invalid premise: our hopes were stoked from the previous year’s one-hundred sixty-third game

Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you?
