Open Thread: 9/3, Padres vs. Dodgers

San Diego Padres at Los Angeles Dodgers, Sep 3, 2008 7:10 PM PDT

This Mythbusters video is really old, but it's funny seeing Roger Clemens try to be personable when he's really a prick.

I hit the cover off of a baseball once.  It was a really old baseball that was rotting from moisture and exposure to sun.  Even with the laces ripped pretty well, I still had to hit the ball as hard as I could for like two hours before the innards were freed from the hide.  I felt like Robert Redford though, so it was all worth it.

Go Padres!

I've got a new idea for a weekly fanpost...

It’s called “Ask Wonko” or “What Would Wonko Do” or something like this…Basically it’s a Q and A with the Wonkster himself and we get to ask all of our toughest questions…
and Wonko responds with a thorough, well thought out, if not slightly opinionated answer. It’s like having somebody do all of your homework for you. Of course Wonko gets to pick out which questions he chooses to answer… I think it might be a pretty enetertaining excercise for all parties involved.

"...do hereby declare that I am not a member of the Human race (not an earthling) and in fact am an alien from another planet other than earth. I hope that this will prove to the person that is putting electric shocks to my head that I am an alien. I am declaring this so that I am not in any violation of any world or international laws of the earth as I am showing by this admission that I am in fact an alien."

Andruw Jones: Still Not at Full Health – 9/2/2008 9:03:21 AM

Update:
Jones (knee) may have been activated from the disabled list, but he’s still suffering from soreness in his right knee, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Recommendation:
Manager Joe Torre indicated that he didn’t foresee much action from Jones this year. “We’re looking for people who can help us,” Torre said. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.
