Let's review our predictions for the 2008 Padres season
- Gaslamp Ball's 2008 Padres Predictions: I browsed through all of your comments and no one was even close. Nobody predicted the win total would be in the 60's or that we'd finish in last place. I predicted 83 wins and a 4th place finish.
- The Padres predicted 90 wins and a 1st place finish.
- Kevin Towers predicted 87 wins.
- Ducksnorts predicted 86 wins and a 2nd place finish.
- Sports Illustrated was the closest with a prediction of 79 wins and 4th place finish.

Hey look at me...
"An NL Central pitcher will throw a no-hitter "
Though, Friar’s prediction of the Rays winning the AL East takes the cake.

In fairness...
Friar made a total of 78 predictions in his post.
13 of them were correct — some of these were easy — Kouz not hitting 100 in april, mark grant leading the league in “hockey suit!” references, brian giles leading the league in tanning booth visits…
But some of them were accurate, such as the rays winning the east, Webb winning the Cy Young, Longoria winning the AL ROY (presumably).
5 of them I judged to be half-right, 6 of them still could conceivably come true, but 54 have so far been proven wrong…
Does Jim Edmonds playing less than 50 games count as a correct prediction?
I know this one doesn’t: NYM: Johan Santana will have an ERA over 3.75. lol
and this one: Justin Germano will win 15 games. lol
and this one: DET: Dontrelle Willis, Jeremy Bonderman and Justin Verlander will combine for 50 wins. lol
Homer: Ohhhh, The Denver Broncos.
Marge: Whats wrong with the Denver Broncos?
Homer: Marge you just don't understand football.
It should...
and yes, I am very wise. :-)
I checked and Santana never cleared 3.50 all year. D’oh!
Working to kill the beach ball and the wave since 1995.
I'm pretty sure I counted it as correct
Since it seemd like you were implying merely that he’d play less than 50 games as a Padre.
My whole NL West was way off
Except the Giants. I was off by one there. Only 3 off on the Dodgers, but I had them finishing in 4th place. Ha! I also only got 1 division winner right (Cubs) and no WCs. I had the Red Sox winning the division and they ended up in the playoffs so at least that’s something. I should’ve picked the Rays for the playoffs but I saw them as a high 80s to 90 win team and I thought the Red Sox and Yankees would win more than that.
Homer: Ohhhh, The Denver Broncos.
Marge: Whats wrong with the Denver Broncos?
Homer: Marge you just don't understand football.
I loved that

Oh man
We didn’t have recs back then, “Upon the announcement that Chris Young will star the All-Star Game over Brad Penny, he will affix one penny to his body every hour until the rightful man takes the hill. TTG will help with this while WG considers revoking Drama’s membership for the club.”-Phantom
