Open Thread: 9/28, Padres vs. Pirates

Pittsburgh Pirates at San Diego Padres, Sep 28, 2008 1:05 PM PDT

Fare thee well Padres.  I guess we've been a little too negative around here in recent weeks, but so it goes.  Here's a positive topic for the Open Thread before the game starts.  What was your favorite memory from this season?

I don't have one.  Just kidding, mine was... okay I'll have to think of one, because there are too many to chose from.

GO PADRES!!

Favorite Moment

Sweeping 4 straight from the Mets and Tony Clark’s only padre HR off Wagner.

Totally agree

I watched all those games and I remember feeling hopefull that they stil could turn the season around. I was wrong but I enjoyed that stretch nonetheless.

Mike Mussina going for 20th win today

“If Mike Mussina is able to secure his 20th victory on Sunday, he would become the oldest pitcher to do so since Jamie Moyer won 21 games at age 40 for the 2003 Mariners, and he would also be the oldest first-time 20-game winner. Only eight pitchers have won 20 games after their 39th birthday.” via MLB.com

I think today would be his 270 win. I hope he tries for 300.

My favorite moment this year is not being the Mets

The Padres season was over in like May….this is way way way less painful than being shot in the heart twice, at home, by the Marlins.

This is what I’ve been looking forward to all season—-the off-season. I’m interested to see how this extremely bright and talented front office responds to this abject failure.

what a positive message

I hooked up my accelerator pedal in my car to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

this place made the season worth while, so i’ll say thanks now, since i’m inevitably getting banned tomorrow lol.
