Let's Go Rays!
So with 14 games to go, it looks like we are rooting for some playoff baseball. Rays have a slight advantage to go over the evil Red Sox. Hopefully we can old thos bastards off and get to the playoff for the first time. Looking forward to Evan returning to form and mashing again.
Some interesting facts about our new club.
They play in the AL East. Another team that plays there is the New York Yankees. The Yankees haven't won a WS in 8 years, like the Rays.
The Rays' manager has his name on the greatest selling video game series ever. Weird thing is its about football.
Tampa Bay is in Florida, same state that has Disney Land and screwed up the 2000 elections.
The organization known as the "Rays" is not new this year, apparently they use to be known as the "Devil Rays". Apparently Lucifer got caught up in this subprime loan mess and couldn't keep up with his naming rights payements after filing Chapter 11. The organization is looking for other sponser and its come down to "Bob's Quick Lube Rays" and "Depends Rays"

..duties include assisting with infield and baserunning instruction and serving as a liaison between the scouting department and the club, including advance series preparation...

Still Regular Season
Still rooting for the Padres……………to lose.

Why?
So they can’t get the #1 draft pick? It seems to me that with Boras as Strasburg’s “advisor”, the chances of the spend-thrift Padres agreeing to terms with Boras are unlikely.

The MLB payroll is going to be reduced next season
Which frees up money for draft picks. Their willingness to spend lots of money on Dominican prospects and payment of overslot bonuses to draft picks this year points in the direction that we will be able to agree to terms. Plus Tony Gwynn is his coach that’s got to be good for something.
Also winning serves no purpose. If we lose a few more games its not going to make any difference. At least if we lose, we will have a chance at Strasburg. If we win, we have no chance. I’ll take my chances.

I've been thinking about
the theory that the Rays are succeeding because because they dropped the “Devil” from their name. Now, I don’t usually buy into crap like that but at this point in the Padres’ season, I’m desperate enough to consider anything. So, I’m proposing that the Padres shorten their name to the Res next year and get new unis with music notes on them.

New Uniform Theory
Most notable in pro-football, but not exclusive. Most instances, high success is the result*.
• Denver Broncos unveil new unis for 1998, win two Super Bowls
• New England Patriots unveil new unis early in the 2000s, win several Super Bowls
• Tampa Bay Buccaneers unveil new unis, win 10 or 11 games in first season, eventually win Super Bowl
• St Louis Rams don new unis in 2001, go to Super Bowl, but lose to other new-uni team Patriots.
• Atlanta Falcons get new jerseys, go to NFC championship before Michael Vick goes nuts
*precise years and time frames not approximate
Doesn’t quite work as well in the NBA since there are about eight different jerseys per squad, but I have yet to really hypothesize this in MLB.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

Someone should go over to the Rays blog
and inform them of our new loyalties.

I think we can inform the one guy on their blog by email.
