Smells Like Padres in Here - Tuesday Edition

Since he's a catcher, Nick Hundley likes throwing out runners.

The kid we got for Old Tony Clark is performing nicely.

The Fightin' Gonzali are happy to be together.

Everyone wants Josh Hamilton's bat.

It's sort of nice to see things go awry for the Brewers.  They should suspend Fielder.

The Padres begin a three game series with the Mets tonight, as CY takes on Mike Pelfrey.  Game time is 4:10pm PDT.

Fielder is an idiot.

And you’re 100% right…he should be suspended. I understand some players need to be dealt with by their teammates in certain situations…but it should be done in a way that no one outside of the team knows about.

Listening to John Kruk last night on Baseball Night (I know, I know…) was almost as awful as watching Fielder attack Parra. Kruk droning on about how it’s going to be “a good thing for the Brewers” and how Fielder “probably” should have dealt with it in the clubhouse after the game and then actually having the nerve to praise him for not hitting Parra with a fist as to not injure him, was incredible. Was Kruk not watching the very show he was commentating on? Sadly, I was…and they played the replay somewhere around 30 times that hour alone. Fielder pushed Parra hard into a wood bench and what looked to be a cooler. Did you notice what part of Parra hit the bench and cooler first? His left arm. Oh yeah, he’s a left-handed pitcher. Brilliant.

You think Lou Pinella isn’t talking this one up in the Cubs clubhouse?

Fielder is a douche bag

and not just because he has single-handedly sunk my fantasy team this year. The look on Parra’s face was pure surprise when Fielder attacked. Who knows, maybe he had beef jerky in his pocket. That whole vegetarian lifestyle doesn’t exactly seem to be yielding a more svelte Prince.

I was like

“you can’t get in trouble for stuff in the dugout, that is lame”

and then i was like “woah Ryan Braun is a beast!” doing most of the restraining

and “JJ Hardy is pretty”

and totally should be some kind of punishment

I like how your verbs are things. I think I'm going to sandwhich after I sofa here for a bit.

From Krasovic's article on Hundley...

The bottom note with the Khalil update?

Five days after shortstop Khalil Greene’s self-inflicted hand fracture, Padres CEO Sandy Alderson was asked if the club will try to avoid paying Greene’s $5.5 million salary for the 6-8 weeks he’s to be on the disabled list.

“Anything we decide or conclude with respect to Khalil and his contracted will be a private matter that we wouldn’t comment on,” Alderson said. “That will be true regardless of what transpires.”

A player’s agent said the players union would respond with a grievance against the Padres if the club attempts to deny Greene any salary.

Wouldn’t the proper answer to that question be “No.”?

You would think so

It was an eminently stupid thing to do, but Khalil is probably the wrong player for a team to try to recoup money from. He’s always been a great guy who has kept out of trouble, and he had one slip up. The negative publicity something like this could create would likely outweigh the 2 million they could get back from him.

That said, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Khalil voluntarily paid back some of that money.

Up until Hundley

Which Padres catcher had the best caught stealing percentage? The Gonzalez brothers’ chair?
