"At this point, we're probably spoilers," Gerut said. "But you don't want to be pushovers. I think after the last three days, we're going to make some teams sweat a bit."

Small ball is for wusses
But in the bottom of the seventh, a one-out triple by Gerut, an RBI single by Edgar Gonzalez and a two-run homer by catcher Nick Hundley brought the Padres back to within one.

Sure sounds like small ball to me. How about that 3 run HR by Giles on Tuesday, very small ball. Writers love to get hard ons over the ancient small ball tactics coming back into play that they ignore whatever doesn’t fit their point. Like the 2005 “Smart Ball” White Sox….who led the league in runs produced by Home Runs.

Pinch-hitter Brian Giles singled to center on the first pitch from Qualls. Luis Rodriguez, who made his first major league start at first base, bunted the tying run to second — the Padres’ league-low 39th sacrifice bunt of the season.

After Kevin Kouzmanoff struck out, Headley tied the score with a two-strike single to right. Headley then stole second — the Padres’ league-low 30th of the season — and scored the decisive run on Gerut’s third hit of the game, a single to right-center.

Anyone else notice that the bunt was probably irrelevant to any runs being scored. If Rodriguez has struck out and Giles was still on first. The same number of runs would have scored (assuming Giles could get to third on Headley’s single and Headley would have been able to steal second while there was still a runner on third)

Also

Anybody have any idea what this guy was talking about?

You know what’s funny? These bloggers making sarcastic comments about the Padres right now because next year when the records are at 0-0, these same bloggers will be in the stands on Opening Day, wearing their Padres jerseys and rootting for the PADRES!!! The reason you are here in this blog is because you are a Padres fan. So, keep on punching yourselves.

It means we are the team

And he is the team. We are all the team.

When we make sarcastic comments about the Padres, we are, in reality, making sarcastic comments about him, and as it turns out, ourselves.

Wait a sec… KHALIL?

Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you?
