Smells Like Padres in Here - Friday Edition
The trade deadline came and went and the Padres are who we thought they were.
Arizona apparently refused to trade Conor Jackson for Mark Teixeira. That's kind of interesting.
An interview with Grady Fuson.
I thought this was funny, conidering how much Heyman gets mentioned around here.
The Giants come to town tonight and Josh Banks takes on that skater punk that lives down the street from me Tim Lincecum. Game time is 7:05pm PDT.

Sounds like
Khalil’s plan to cripple his trade value by punching a storage container worked. Woot!
The long-term implication of Greene’s injury, Towers said, is that it’s almost certain that Greene will have almost no trade value this offseason. The GM added that the club will have to decide in 2009 whether to retain Greene beyond next season, trade him or allow him to leave in free agency in November 2009. Greene is in the first year of a two-year contract that guarantees him $6.5 million next season.About two weeks ago, the Padres received inquiries from other clubs about Greene’s availability, Towers said, “but we would have had very little leverage. We’d be selling low. For us, we know he’s a better ballplayer. He’s proved over the last couple of years he’s a much better ballplayer on offense” than what he’s shown this season.
I’m actually surprised to see such positive quotes from the FO after what was an admittedly foolish thing to do. I imagine they’ll try to let Khalil rebuild his trade value next year and ship him off at the deadline if they’re out of contention.
Or KT is just trying to fool someone into overpaying for him this off-season

Lord Almighty
I don’t think I ever needed to see a more closeup of Jon Heyman in my entire life. That was no typo, that was fantasy come to life. There is nothing more fulfilling to him than to finish out his career in the locker room at fenway park, thanks jh
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
I agree peavy shoulda made the list my bad jh

Damn you tail!
That was supposed to be a clever response. Now it just looks like a lame attempt at humor.
Le Sigh.
I'm just gonna put this up right now

WHY

mlb.com got my hopes up
But for some reason they were expecting the Padres to skip Josh Banks’ spot in the rotation. Not that I blame the Padres. A team playing for 2009 shouldn’t be skipping starts when they can be preserving the health of CY and Peavy.
I don't have to always be right. I just have to always think I'm right.
all the sports writers thought Arizona was gonna trade Conor
but the whole time the Arizona FO kept saying he wasn’t going anywhere since they build their team on young talent
i don’t know why the rumor kept floating around and Arizona apparantly screened their calls just to avoid the Braves…Arizona could of used Teixeria but not at the expense of Jackson for sure
too bad they couldn’t work out a deal not involving Jackson, because I do not want the Dodgers to win the division… I hope Joe Torre gets fed up with Ramirez and benches him! ha!
i’m bitter
You know I could go for a sandwich, but uh, I'm not gonna open two jars. I can't be opening and closing all kinds of jars.
Joe Torre
will find a way to screw up these Dodgers. Plus, their playoff hopes still ride on their ability to back either Penny or Schmidt as well as Saito, none of which is a sure thing.
I don't have to always be right. I just have to always think I'm right.
i'll be there tonight
in sec 3somethin i think (family’s seats) but i think i will try and sketch my way down to the terrace.
most likely will still be wearing my 96 San Diego RNC shirt, don’t think i’ll be able to get home before the game.
say hi if you see me.
