Open Thread, July Ninth, Anno Domini Two-Thousand and Eight: Padres vs Marlins
Miami Marlins at San Diego Padres, Jul 9, 2008 12:35 PM PDT
Here I am again. San Diego. Jonny Dub flew out to Charlotte, found me relaxing under a tree, threw me over his shoulder and drove me across the country over five days, kicking and screaming. His own personal Southern Intervention.
The Padres scored 10 yesterday. That is a lot of runs. More than what we scored over the last 4 1/2 weeks or so. My guess? We bust out with 11 today just to stick it to the haters.
Over under on broken maple bats: 3 1/2
GO PADRES!!!

lineup shortly
Working east coast hours on west coast time is weird. I forgot to eat breakfast or lunch yesterday. Today I made a sandwich with bacon, egg, pastrami, cheese, lettuce tomato… Only the breakfasty stuff happened at one end and the lunchy stuff towards the other end. I’ve been eating it all day. It helps my internal clock.
Brilliant!
Quick! Copyright it before it gets covered in chipotle sauce and is served at every fast food chain!

Great
No SD media coverage, so FL announcers on MLB.TV. Great.

Han always

That and making googly eyes at your sister is hot.
AGo sucks!
Why do we even play him?
I don't have to always be right. I just have to always think I'm right.
But how will we find someone the roster who can play 1B?
I don't have to always be right. I just have to always think I'm right.
That's why we need Richie Sexson

yeah but it violates my fantasy ethics rules
i can’t root against my own team for fantasy purposes… like i can’t own any raiders in football season.
now in real life, on the other hand, totally acceptable to root against your own team for draft related purposes.

gamecast is woefully behind again at this point i think, its still 0-0 right?

They’ve got men on first and second, one out. WG is too obsessed with the Strassburg to give you an objective analysis.

Not accurate. Nearly every ball they’ve hit has been hit very well.

But the problem is that we are missing HR hitters. Not that it is impossible.

This is untrue
It’s a common misconception with the Padres. We have routinely outhomered opposition at home since Petco opened.
we actually hit more HR than the Red Sox last year amazingly enough.
