Smells Like Padres in Here - Wednesday Edition

"Those Portland Beavers are something, aren't they?"  (Now let's trade Wolf and I'm assuming we're just showcasing Myrow, right?)

Ryan Braun gets the final slot in the Home Run Derby.

People talk about DiMaggio's hitting streak as the most unattainable feat in baseball, but what Johnny Vander Meer did was equally incredible.

Baek takes on Scott Olsen today in the series finale.  DAY GAME ALERT!!!  Game time is 12:35pm PDT.

stupid Ryan Braun

You know I could go for a sandwich, but uh, I'm not gonna open two jars. I can't be opening and closing all kinds of jars.

Dan Uggla and Chase Headley?

Seriously? How many second basemen have even been in the Homerun Derby over the past five years?

too many chase's in the league...

but I don’t think the savior is making it to the all star game this year…

Beaver

Actually I think they are trying to get comfortable with Myrow before trading Tony Clark, who would have some value as a PH/DH for a contender (low level prospect or ‘system depth’?) + a couple hundred thousand dollars savings.

Notice how all of the early season roster decisions based on waiver rights/rule 5, etc were failures? McNulty, Huber, Calix Crabbe, various bullpen bodies. Let’s hope there’s a learning curve next year – put the best damn players on the roster.

I originally thought this

But I don’t think they currently have plans for TC to go anywhere. The roster is chalk full of multi-positional guys. Every OFer on the roster can play all 3 OF positions, except for Headley who can play 3B. EGon and LRod can both play 2B, 3B and SS. So it doesn’t hurt flexibility too much to carry 2 PHs.

I don't have to always be right. I just have to always think I'm right.
