"Towers said teams have inquired about the availability of ace pitcher Jake Peavy, as well as shortstop Khalil Greene, third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff, reliever Heath Bell and Hoffman. Towers, though, said any moves involving those players probably wouldn't happen until after the season.

"It's very doubtful anything happens with those guys," Towers said. "We will reassess at the conclusion of the season. ... We've had some people ask about Khalil, ask about Kouz, but we want to continue watching those guys. ... We had a couple clubs ask about Trevor, but we're not really entertaining moving Trevor at this time. Whenever Trevor decides to hang 'em up, I want it to be in a Padres uniform."

Two good quotes:
Other than two weeks of decent ball, where we got within eight games of .500, not a lot’s been happening.
I think he has a chance with his size and arm strength. Hopefully, it’s another (Scott) Sh*tbrick deal.

His words. Not mine.

Technically...

Couldn’t Trevor go play for another team and then when he hangs up his spikes for the last time, couldn’t he just then put on a Padres uniform? Am I being too literal?

I don't think so

Let him keep the uniform. There’s all sorts of things you can do in a baseball uniform.

Seems to me. . .

Seems to me that we should just go ahead and move Trevor while he has value to someone else. This team is so bad that he isn’t worth holding onto if they can add some more talented young players. I’m not saying KT should move him just to move him, he means too much to the organization and the fans, but if somebody came along with a package of good young players close to major league ready. . .I’m just saying maybe the front office should think about it. The Padres can always sign him to a one day contract after the season is over so he can retire as a Padre, it’s not like we’re the only team he’s ever been on.

Not that many games to save these days

So why move Trevor unless it’s a super sweet deal. He can sit out in the pen and give advice to the 300 relievers we have yet to see in a Padres unifrom this year. Not to mention, there’s probably half a million middle aged women in San Diego who still get excited when they hear Hell’s Bells in the 9th and that spells, people in the seats.
What would we really get for Trevor anyways? We’ve seen what a proven ML starter like Wolf gets you… At this point, NOTHING MATTERS! Except for next year, so we better start thinking about the rotation and specifically a re-tooled bullpen for then.

I can't conceive what would happen.

It would be like trading the sun.

Jake and Trevor aren't going anywhere.

I think that Kouz and possibly Khalil are gone this off-season. Bell will stay until we can replace him with someone as good or better.
