Let's see...
Edgar has FOURTEEN hits in his last 27 at-bats. Let’s sit him.
That makes sense. Even Harry wants to win the Strasburg.

I don’t follow that rationale.
If I’m not watching the Padres, the Dodgers are nowhere on the list of acceptable replacements. And “stand with nose in corner of room” is.

Hey KT...
I was just wondering if you could talk to Sandy for me…yeah, um, I just want to finish my career with more than 351 wins…Could you ask Sandy if you’re allowed to speak with Coletti. Yeah, uh huh, just see if there’s anything you could do for me. and tell Moore’s I’m willing to forfeit the remainder of my salary too. Thanks KT. You’re the man.

Probably the other way around
KT, leaning in the cut of the dimly-lit clubhouse, smoking a cigarette all cool-style, after every time Maddux comes off the mound,
“You wanna go yet? Just say the word and I’ll make it happen. I can make this all go away. Just say it, Greg. Don’t think. Do it. Now. Do it. 3…. 2….. 1….. Do it. Now. Go. Do it. C’mon, do it.”

Close, but not quite right
KT: Don’t make me call Sandy
GM: But my wife and children, KT. I can’t leave them on the west coast without me. How would they survive?
KT: Sandy wants arms for the bullpen, and what Sandy wants… Sandy gets. Peroid, Greg.
GM: You tell Sandy and Moores I’ll give ‘em my first born son, he’s been working on his changeup and should be ready to go by 2028…if I get the trade to LA.
KT: I’ll let ‘em know…

Thatcher not stressing over debut
Manager Bud Black was encouraged by the way Thatcher worked out of what could have been a potentially messy situation. Black said Thatcher will be used much in the way relievers Cla Meredith, Heath Bell and Trevor Hoffman are used late in games.“We think Joe is going to fit back there with Cla, Heath and Trev as a guy we’re going to go to in those types of games,” Black said.

that it would show that Bud didn’t use him in that way at all.
I know you’d argue differently.

He's been used in every way imaginable
None with success. Beginning of an inning, middle of an inning, runners on, nobody on, lefties, righties. No excuses anymore, he’s just not effective. Props to Bud for grinding this scrub into the ground so we don’t have to see his sorry ass again next year.

Sometimes
I think you ARE Bud Black. And that would explain so much…
by Winfield's Ghost on Jul 23, 2008 12:03 PM PDT up reply actions 1 recs
He generally comes in the in 7th inning
With nobody on… usually in relief of the starter. When the starter’s gassed (Germano), he comes in in the 6th.
Where else do you factor him in if he can’t pitch the 7th?
