Dykstra
That’s the first time I’ve actually seen the injury mentioned.
And if he’s getting a third opinion, then I’m guessing we won’t be signing him.

Meh
We get a replacement pick next year if we don’t sign him. I have a friend whose got a source in the organization that believes they’re angling to have Dykstra to sign for less.
With a hip injury on a supposed power hitter
I’d rather have the replacement pick next yr.

But it's not really a "Meh".
What pisses me off is this is our first round pick, so ideally we’d like to see him contributing to the big club in what, 2012? Well, because of this mistake you can just tack on another year. If we had a kick ass farm system it would be one thing…
We've got Blanks
who much already fills the role that Dykstra would inhabit. We’ve also got some really hot younger 1B prospects in the system and it’s highly unlikely that Dykstra would have been able to move to LF. It could very well be that the team is using the injury sort of as an out. I think the primary reason the team popped Dykstra was to prevent AZ from getting him outright, as we really wanted Havens, who the Mets took. Maybe they believe next year’s crop will be better?
Just imagine
Next year: Strasburg and moar compensatory pix.

What is this
like 23 straight first round draft picks with injurys?

Well this is what can happen
if you don’t try to go with a sign-ability pick.

Does the Alderson-Fuson theories of scouting actually work?
I read moneyball, I know how seriously those guys to the draft, especially Billy Beane. Why don’t you bring Billy Beane to GM in San Diego???
(then you’d have to promote KT, cause you can’t let his baseball/pitching brain go to another team)
What are you talking about?
You spelled “to” flawlessy. :)

Apparently our DR facility
has already netted us some nice pickups.
I really think that the draft is way more of an inexact science than people pretend it to be. There are literally hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of amateur players out there who are eligible to be drafted. You’ve only got so much in the way or resources. I think that the team has improved their philosophy, but it still needs work.
that's good news
having the best facility in Republica Dominicana is certain to help the team with foreign players and superstars, and that’s good news.
I wouldn’t be upset if our drafts the last few years were league average, but they aren’t. and it’s not for a lack of high picks as KT has delivered plenty of high picks. the best players in our farm system came from trade.
...I wonder why our best homegrown talent is a pitcher (he’s on the mound as I type this)
Giles' tan is ugly
there is a difference between being tan and being grossly tan and his is gross
its why he looks 9 billion years older than he is
i just hope he makes sure to go to the doctor and gets his skin checked often
You know I could go for a sandwich, but uh, I'm not gonna open two jars. I can't be opening and closing all kinds of jars.
