San Diego is expected to activate Josh Bard from the DL this week, and will immediately place him on the trading block.

So it's come to this

Sure, trade away one of the few core players still here from last year.
Losing all these guys didn’t hurt right?

Our catchers aren’t doing well right now, and our pitching could probably use their favorite old target to help them get back to dominant form. Yeah, our offense sux, but it sucked last year too. This year we have a bad offense and mediocre pitching. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence, but our pitchers seemed to always throw better with bardo behind the plate last year.

Plus, what the hell will someone give us for Bard? I hear this team could use some help catching, but I’ve heard they don’t have too many attractive major league ready prospects.

Ah well…

Exactly -

what are they going to get for Bard? You can take all our other crappy catchers and trade them for a case of beer. Bard was off to a slow start (at bat) this year – but lead the league in RISP hitting last year. Last time I checked, we could use some timely hitting. Hope this is just a rumor and nothing else.

And let the

under-the-Mendoza Line Twins keep catching?

One not-quite-100% Bard is better than these two doods.

Besides, they cant trade her Koozy! er, Joshy!

It’s not like he’s any better.

The cool damp marine air at petco

has suppressed his numbers.
He probably still recovering from the China trip too

ahh the damp air!

that’s what’s slowing down his throws to second.

i knew there was some reasonable explanation.

Trade him, don't trade him, I don't care

He’s not any better or worse than anyone else we have right now, so I’m indifferent to his coming or going. As has already been mentioned, I can’t imagine teams are lining up to talk to KT, thinking Josh Bard will be the difference maker on their club.

Trade him

he’s got a noodle for an arm. At least Hundley and Carlin can throw (to our right fielders).

About Bard's BA

If you look at the year’s that we’ve had him, he’s started out real slow, and as the year wore on he heated up.

In 2006, he batted .278 for the Red Sox, and then .338 for us the remainer of the year.
In 2007, he also started out slow at around .200, but played the second half above .300, and finished with a season BA of .285.

I think that if Josh had not been hurt and gotten more ABs, he probably would have improved as the year went on, just like every other year.

Of course, it wouldn’t have improved his ability to throw runners out, but that would be no different than the last few years, so whatever.

I'm still a Bard lover.

This game was sweet. (Click on the “Bard homers twice” link for a visual.)

It may sound stupid

but i love how Bard stands his ground at the plate. Even if it does result in broken ankles. I just hate it when catchers puss out and refuse to get laid out at home. I cant see the two child twins intimidating any base runner on his way home.

I say we just bring up Mitch Canham.

He could throw it into RF 5 times a game and you’d still have to root for the guy.
