Smells Like Padres in Here - Wednesday Edition

Fastest game ever at Coors Field.  The Padres lost on five singles and 79 pitches from Aaron Cook.  At Coors Field.  Awful team, awful manager.

Germano is still sucking in Portland.

Kerry Wood salutes you.

Randy Wolf takes on Ubaldo Jimenez tonight.  The most exciting thing about tonight's game is that Dex and Jon will be stalking that attractive stadium reporter in the stands.  But they should honestly cancel tonight's game by reasoning that neither team deserves to play another game this season.  "Game time" is 6:05pm PDT.

Cook's comments

“I know this team,” he said of the Padres. “I’ve seen this team a lot. I know they are going to be aggressive. I know they are looking early.”

Boy, if other pitchers figure out how to pitch effectively against the Padres, the boys might have a lot of trouble winning games.

do you think sandy cringes when he reads that?

.....or do you think he calls the nearest person a moron and goes on with his day?

Sandy

I remember him being absolutely livid last year on the Too Much Show after an Aaron Cook start. He was so freakin’ pissed that if you stripped the attitude out of his answers then we were good answers.

Once again...

...we have no idea what we’re doing.

Black has opted to start Cha Seung Baek on Friday night, giving Jake Peavy at least one additional day of rest. But Black stopped short of saying Peavy would start Saturday.

Will it be Greg Maddux on regular rest Saturday, although he is 1-7 lifetime at Chase Field with a near-six ERA? Will it be Peavy on an extra day’s rest? Or could it be Clay Hensley, with Peavy pushed back to Sunday so that Maddux could skip Arizona?

i feel like he labels a dart board with pitchers names

and takes four shots of jager and lets it fly.

for both starters and bullpens…

“down four in the third… looks like (hic)... (thud) Trevor! hey ballsy-ly, warm up trevor. yeah i said it, i’m the manager bitch!”

If only

then at least Bud Black’s shitty management would make some sense.

How 'bout each pitcher take 4 shots of Jager before each inning

and each batter take 4 shots before each bat? The would still suck, but it would be fun to watch. Otherwise, I will be “forced” to do the 4 shots myself….

that would be awesome by about the 5th inning

David Wells could be dominant again…

Think I'd take Willie

Over Bud Black at this point. What do we have to lose?

I wanted Peavy for Friday

Peavy-Haren is a good matchup. Basically you are sacrificing Friday’s game with the way Haren pitches. I’m sure the Strasburg contingent will be happy with this.

Haren has struggled a bit

so bud black might be counting on that

all though we’ll make him look like he’s never struggled

Trust me, death is the best argument for moisturizer.

If by struggled you mean

given up 3 ER in his last 27 IP, then yes he has “struggled”. If by “struggled” you mean he is on pace to set a career low in ERA and WHIP, then that would also be a good definition of “struggled”. If by “struggled” you mean “Has progressed with difficulty” then I would have to disagree.

How come Randy Wolf's hat is different?

He has a white underbrim, the official caps have a black one. This has been driving me crazy.

What is a Jimenez?

I googled to find out.

This is more a rant than anything else. For the first time I came up against armies consisting largely of Spanish Jinettes. I have come across this type of unit before, but only in small numbers, and usually when I was defending a territory. My real problems began when I attacked the territory with 6 units of Jinettes. I had more than enough strength to handle them, but was initially unprepared to deal with the chicken-sh*t tactics they employed. I’ve dealt with mounted archers before, so I had no trouble in using flanking maneuvers on each individual unit of Jinettes. This went well at first, until the rest of them decided that they were going to avoid me all together. I couldn’t get a unit within a few hundred yards of them before they would start to run in another direction. I eventually managed to pin most of them in a corner, and slowly tightened the noose. Meanwhile, I had other mounted units chasing the stragglers around the battlefield. I didn’t have time to flank each and every unit, as those individuals who would escape, eventually turned around and came back to harass me.

So we’re going to need to use the terrain to our advantage and if we have any kind of armored spear infantry, that would really help.
