SLPiH - All-Star Edition
COUNSIL SHUTS OUT THE PADRES ON THREE HITS
Winfield's Ghost, comparing himself to a professional baseball player, believes he deserves an All-Star break. Unreal.
Josh Hamilton hits 13 more homeruns than Justin Morn-Who in the Home Run Derby and loses...only Major League Baseball could screw up something as amazing as that was. It was the worst ending since Return of the Jedi.
Aid is enjoying his All-Star experience in New York City. "Sometimes things don't go your way. But hopefully we can turn it up in the second half. We're not too far off." Apparently he's enjoying the NYC bars a litte too much.
Commissioner Bud Selig is hosting a live chat on MLB.com today at 10:30am.
Yesterday afternoon, Tom Krasovic posted a story on the U-T Padre Blog reporting that the Cubs had recently contacted the Padres about the availability of Khalil...but a few hours it was completely deleted from the website. Strange.
Tim Sullivan had to fly all the way to New York to figure out that the Padres miss Milton Bradley's bat in the line-up. Jay Parris from the NC Times did the same thing.
Josh Bard is apparently ready to join the Padres.
Jonathan Papelbon is a jackass.
Ben Sheets vs. Cliff Lee. First pitch is around 5ish on FOX.

Much like the All-Star Game
this edition of SLPiH feels forced, hastily prepared and something that no one really cares about.

Recycling comments from your Editor again?
Sad.
Maybe a tad bit less time at the pool and in the fridge…and a little more work at the keyboard might do the trick.

I hate all things Boston
Papelbon is such an ass. Where is that awesome “Time for Buttsecks?” picture that Dex posted after the WS? That’s a great summation of Johnny P right there.

Agreed.
I try not to agree with Curt Schilling on a regular basis, but he was right when he said Papelbon is “not exactly a charter member of Mensa.”
Could be worse... could be the offseason.

Papelbon
I love that he refers to himself in the third person now.

The Kipper loves that too
You know what else the Kipper loves? The Kipper loves the Kipper. The Kipper doesn’t give a rat’s about anyone else and the Kipper loves that about himself.

I hope the game is a blowout
for the NL and they both get mop-up duty.

Mop-up duty??
That is not the way one treats “an elder statesman”.

Papelbon is lucky he has that arm
He’s dangerously close to Miss Teen South Carolina retarded.
And Rivera, well he can just sit and spin. (for no other reason than he’s a Yank)

WHAT?!
The nerve to win the season series 5-1 and then start blogging our pick? WTF. Should have been thinking about that in San Diego when you decide to sweep us, morons.

You know what's funny about his post?
He has our record wrong. Oops.

This is ridiculous...
From wiki:
MLB Draft OrderThe general draft order is the reverse order of the previous year’s standings. If two teams finish with identical records, the previous year’s standings of the two teams is the tiebreaker, with the team having a worse record receiving the higher pick.
So, in the event of a tie with the Mariners or the Nationals…we lose the Strasburg.
BUT…if we tie with the Rockies…that’s one tiebreaker with those bastards we are guaranteed to win!!
