Smells Like Padres in Here - Tuesday Edition

Congratulations Padres.  You won a baseball game.  Nice going.  But so did Arizona, so please don't try to convince us that you're back in this thing.  We know better.

Black is going to mess with the rotation.

The team is hoping to land several Latin American prospects tomorrow.

Finally.  We're last.

Josh Banks goes against Aaron Cook tonight.  They will probably win again tonight and people will get all excited.  Then they'll lose tomorrow when Dex and Jon are there.  Game time is 6:05pm PDT.

I wish I would have been around

last night but they started kicking ass once I shut off the game. Nice to see everyone hit. I’m a little concerned that Headley hasn’t drawn a walk yet.

seriously

This “savior” isn’t causing us to win every single game like the front office promised he would.

I like how we won

on the one day that Arizona won.

Not that I’m looking at the standings any longer.

"The Race"

Padres: 33 – 51 .393
Nationals: 33 – 51 .393
Rockies: 32 – 51 .386
Mariners: 31 – 51 .378

With the Nationals, Mariners and Rockies all losing yesterday….last night’s big come from behind victory is even more painful.

The ninth inning last night

Showed what consummate professional losers the Rockies really are. We’re going to have to step down our game a couple of notches to ice this.

Is anyone else

somewhat apprehensive about Banks in Coors tonite?

by Phantom on Jul 1, 2008 12:04 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

No

Banks in Coors is exactly what we need to get the losing started again.

I assume

this means that you refuse to have any hope left?

by Phantom on Jul 1, 2008 12:39 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

You assume correctly

This is a bad team with a bad manager. I refuse to be pulled back in with a couple of meaningless wins against an equally bad team.

DYKSTRA FAILS PHISICAL???

What the hell? How did this slip under the radar? Anyone know what this means? Does he get to take the test again? Once again, great draft pick… Dykstra, Carillo, Stauffer, Schmidt, and the cream of the crop, Matt Bush… from now on the Padres should decide on their draft pick and then go in the exact opposite direction.

Draft ME!

i suck, and could fail a physical with the best of them. or get arrested like Matt Bush. i could do that well too.

What's a Phisical?

FIRE BUD BLACK! RETIRE HOFFMAN, GILES, AND MADDUX! TRADE HEADLEY, KOUZMANOFF, AND GREENE!

Dont know, the article by Bill Center just has a little line on it at the bottom… its article about Black adjusting the rotation before the all star break

Fuson mentioned it last week

but gave out zero details, other than they were moving slower on contract negotiations now.

So what do we keep?

If we are sellers, then we need to figure out what we think we can build around.

Agon and Peavy are the only ones you don’t trade unless someone offers you their entire minor league system.

Egon seems fairly good, and could be a good contributor next year. I think the FO may want to sell high if given the opportunity.

KG…I think the experiment is over. He is bottom 1/3 position player, which is fine if he was the only whole in the lineup we had.

Kouz…could continue to develop in the next two years, but really isn’t going to be more than a number 6 type of hitter.

Headley…I think he is a middle lineup, potential all star

Gerut, not a bad option in CF if we can’t get the top tier CF’s

Giles, still very good, but he won’t be producing when this team is contenting again.

CYoung, very good pitcher at a very good financial terms, we can keep him for several years, unless we can convice the yankees he is a #1 starter.

Bell, I would sell on Heath right now. As good as he is, most teams overvalue relievers.

These guys we obvious trade for a A type prospect or a couple of high ceiling guys. Maddux, Wolf, Banks, Clay.

For the remainder of the roster, if someone calls KT up and offers him a happy meal, I think he should jump on it.

Trevor, we keep, let him announce his retirement in August. Then we can all go to the park in September and celebrate his marvelous career.
