I heard it took him 2 months just to learn how to catch a fly ball
It took 3 weeks to convince him that he could actually throw the ball to the cutoff man rather than run the ball in from the warning track.

So I was trying to stamp this OT with the customary W
moments after I hear Ted say the word “gone” and in my excitement, I mashed keys and closed my browser.

I find Mets fans to be mellow
They just don’t seem to get as worked up (unless you aggravate them). I think it’s all the Yankees stuff beating them down over the years. There’s less sense of entitlement.
I watched all 23 innings and all I got was this lousy signature.
i was in a section full of them
they were annoying and obnoxious
i’ve never had a problem with them before but these ones reminded me of cubs fans
and kept standing in the way during plays
the mets fan behind me also knew nothing about the padres but thought they did… it was bad… i always get the worst

Range Factor
You know, after thinking about this old (I think Bill James came up with this in 1982) stat I’m pretty sure one it’s basic flaws, as it relates to Reyes and Greene, is related to pitcher handedness. The Padres and Mets have both had a decent amount of games started by lefties (Estes and Wolf by Padres and Perez and Santana by Mets) which will lead to more right handed batters and thus more balls hit to the left side of the infield. I think this is a big determining in factor why both players are in the top five. Also, the Mets have had more starts from lefties (Estes was only a partial year) which helps push Reyes over the top. Range Factor is a gaining popularity, IMO, because ESPN publishes it with its defensive stats.
All that being said, Range Factor is a decent (easy) stat when used in combination with Matty’s favorite defensive stat fielding percentage (another very flawed stat). Each by itself is an ugly representation of a player’s ability, but together the picture becomes clearer. I personally prefer more advanced metrics such has RZR (hard to come by, but very advanced, based of charting where balls are fielded), Rate2 (not really sure who develops this, but I know it’s well respected), SFR (Baseball Prospectus) or Plus/Minus (Hardball Times). Fielding Runs is another good one if you want to compare players from different eras because it adjusts its context for offensive levels in a given year.
