Smells Like Padres in Here - Thursday Edition

Maddux was really good.

Today is the day that our future will be determined.  Over at Yahoo, someone named Steve Henson has us picking David Cooper out of Cal with our first pick.  Cooper is a first baseman.  Sorry, Steve Henson, but I don't think so.

Sounds like Jake is going to be back soon at full strength.

Gerut getting it done.  (Except for last night because he didn't start because apparently no one ever taught him how to face left-handed pitching.)

Dave Winfield is so great.

Smokin' Josh Banks takes on Mike Pelfrey and the Mets tonight.  Game time is 7:05pm PDT.

It's official.

Geoff is officially on the Padres payroll.

What moves would you like to see the Padres make over the remainder of the season to improve the team for the future?

I’d like to see Chase Headley up at some point. People locally are getting a little carried away with their expectations of him — desperation will do that — but he’s a solid prospect who doesn’t have much left to prove in the minors.

Maddux

It cracks me up when you look around the interwebs at overly confident Cubs fans and see them willing to accept Greg Maddux now after he kept them in check for 6 innings giving up 3 hits and run on 69 pitches.

You can’t have him, Cubbies.

Al will give them hugs.

With a name like Smuckers, it has to be good!

Matt Bush

It’s MLB Draft Day…here’s your obligatory Matt Bush article. This one comes from John Donovan at SI.

Tadahito Iguchi is the National League’s only regular second baseman who has yet to make an error this season. His countryman Akinori Iwamura of the Rays is the AL’s only regular second baseman who is errorless.

they have totally jinxed it now
