Open Thread, 6/20: Padres vs Tigers
Detroit Tigers at San Diego Padres, Jun 20, 2008 7:05 PM PDT
Old Man Maddux goes for us today. That's all I have to say about that.
The Tigers offense vs Petco Park. I'm expecting lots of balls to the warning track.
GO PADRES!!!

The home team should be allowed to forfeit at any time

No
Just call it when you know it’s over. Save him for tomorrow.

Right?

Wait
Make them fly all the way to west coast only to send them right back? Who are we? Omar Minaya?

I went as far as to look up Omar Minaya
on wikipedia, saw that I would have to do a lot of reading and gave up.
Soon to be
former GM of the Mets. (i’d fire his arse so fast for that debacle.)

GM of the Mets
Let Willie Randolph fly all the way to LA, only to fire him once he got there and then fly home.
Time to get that run back
Not that it matters, Steve “Jinx” Quis is on the mic tonight.

There is a guy
behind the Tigers’ dugout in some kind fo caveman/leopard “outfit.”

OK.
Did Quis say they saw Huber in the Padre locker room tonight? Cuz he’s not in the starting line-up for the Beavers tonight. So, Kouz is going on the DL because of his back? Is that right? So Huber will come up and be the 5th OF and Chase has third all to himself?
He did indeed say that.
That he saw Huber and that means a move may be made, pending the announcement of the MRI at the end of the game.

Thanks for the double-check.
If Giles is playing…and Kouz isn’t…I’m guessing Kouz is hitting the DL.
Hairston, Greene, Barrett
Put a coat on folks, it’s gonna get drafty in here.

We need to do something different
as far as trying to hold runners.

change it up, somehow.
Is there a sign on our back or something?

What's up with that ballpark?
How come all the Tigers’ fly balls are being caught at the fence, man?
by Ian Casselberry on Jun 20, 2008 7:49 PM PDT reply actions
This home-plate ump is a minor league guy.
Fill-in guy. Why do they let the fill-ins work the plate? I don’t get that.
Wait a minute
Headley’s fly ball didn’t die at the fence. What’s going on here?

if i could purchase stock in the guy (headley) i would dump every cent i have in him
i guess my 3 fantasy baseball teams will have to do.

so where are they going to play headley when kouz comes back? was i mistaken or was he playing outfield in portland?
he should still play left
isn’t that why they brought him up? they sent his butt to AAA to learn defensive skills in LF

Bring on the Heat!
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Kouz
An MRI showed that Padres 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff has an irritated disc in his lower back. He missed his fourth straight game, with Headley starting in his place. Kouzmanoff is feeling better and might take some swings in the inside batting cage on Saturday, Black said.
Hope that works for everybody.
