Regarding the Poll - do that many people really blame Bud?
I’ve got to say, I don’t tend to apply much of the blame to Bud Black for the team’s performance. I think for years our formula has been: League Best Pitching + optional offense. That is good enough to make the playoffs but it’s an awfully fine line – when the pitching slips, the whole thing comes apart. Our pitching has slipped this year, so we suck- like I said, a fine line.
Maybe I am just weirdly fond of the guy, but how much of the Khalil suckage is Black’s fault? I mean, I want to see Headley up as well, but is that even Bud’s decision?
(and, I do agree with the earlier post today – KT’s public outrage was so cathartic. I’d like a little more of it.)

I was actually really surprised with the results. I couldnt decide so I didnt vote.
BUT Buddy has a lot to do with the stupid decisions that go on on the field (ie, who is up to bat. etc etc.) Stuff that we as fans, can make better decisions about and then we find ourselves yelling at the tv saying we know better.

i blame bud
for bad managerial decisions
like leaving a pitcher in too long
not putting the right pitcher in for the right situation
some of his lineups
not playing small ball when he needs to
not positioning the fielders where they should
etc.etc.etc
no a baseball player striking out or a not performing his best or headley not being up or anything like that is Black’s fault but there are a lot of mistakes he makes

First of all, I hope you’ll cut me some slack for my Mets Avatar. I’ve been w/them since 97 but I lived in SoCal for 13 years and I have given the Padres plenty of money for tix, brew and dogs and I have also given them a lot of my cheers.
Good lord. I’m from Knoxville, TN and I was paying attention to Headley (UT ballplayer) during spring training. Didn’t the guy hit more homers than any other Padre? I was eyeing him for my fantasy baseball team before I got the news he would be sent down. I’m just as flummoxed as the rest of you on why this guy isn’t in the lineup. This notion of getting more playing time at defense at the LF position in AAA is getting old.
Didn’t Kevin Towers mention that he didn’t want the guy under too much pressure to do too much? Hell, what on earth have you got to lose? This ain’t New York! I don’t think the S.D. Union Tribune is gonna come down on you too hard if he doesn’t crank one out in his first few games!
So…Bring Headley up! Tell Trevor; “Thanks, but we’re moving on.” and stop blaming the manager. The manager doesn’t play ball!
