RE: Calling up Headley

I'll admit that Paul DePodesta's latest post irks me a little bit.  As fans we've been dying to know any information about Headley for months.  Every time Towers was asked about him the same reasons were given and they sounded really fishy.

I don't even have the energy to go through each excuse again.  Every reason seemed to be debunked when he was brought up to start and play the outfield in Yankee Stadium. Over and over we were told he couldn't handle the pressure and so he was brought up in a stadium and a city where even veterans admit to being off their game due to the pressure, the crowds and the history of the Yankees.

First of all, let me say that I'm a little disappointed that I haven't received a bunch of questions about this [Headley's Promotion] so far, especially considering all of the talk on the subject. After all, these types of situations are perfect for this forum.

I'm a little disappointed by this statement.  Why do we have to ask?  We've been asking for months and we've been lead in circles, if it wasn't one reason then it was another.  I just wish Paul would just tell us the real reasons and give us the best information that he can, without us having to ask the right question.  He knows the questions that are out there, without us needing to ask them.

A post like this from Paul would have been okay a month or so ago, but I just feel that we deserve some straight forward answers at this point.  Now that Chase is up, I just don't have the energy to play these games anymore.

I'M CALLING YOU OUT, DEPODESTA!  WE WANT ANSWERS! YOU KNOW THE QUESTIONS! QUIT PLAYING COY!

I already asked

why huber instead of (others).

I’m leaving the “why now?” question alone because I think he’s already outlined his answer to that with the “there is no perfect time to call up a prospect.”

I don't even care about "why now?"

I’m wondering why we were told fictitious reasons before.

Well don't just sit there

Ask!

I’m not entirely on the same page with you that the reasons given were fictitious. Each reason given had its merit, but was not the entire reason, and I don’t think there was just one.

I agree 100%

I read that post and it irritated me as well. What questions are left to ask? And why, after listening to KT dance around the whole thing for the last 8 weeks, should be expect to get the truth? They called him up and he’s playing. I don’t really need to bother with the whole subject anymore.

What about for posterity's sake?

So that we can hold them accountable for the next hot prospect coming up.

I watched all 22 innings and all I got was this lousy signature.

Yankee Stadium

I kind of think that starting at Yankee stadium helps ease the pressure put on him. There is less of a focus on him and more about playing the Yankees. I mean the UT headline today didn’t say “Headley muffs ball in loss” or even “Headley debuts strong with 2 hits”. No, it said “Padres Mugged in Loss”. The press wants to know why Wolf struggled or the severity of Kouzmanoff’s injury or who saw what monuments, instead of badgering Chase about his fielding or how he felt. Just a thought. I’m not entirely convinced, but I bet I could convince someone else with that argument.

I just think

that what we consider pressure and the FO considers pressure are two locations that are miles apart.
