Hank Steinbrenner is an Idiot
New York Yankees team co-chairman (and Buffoon, Jr.) Hank Steinbrenner ripped the National League and blamed it's archaic rules for the injury suffered by starting pitcher Chien-Ming Wang in Houston on Sunday. Wang will be sidelined until at least September after tests revealed a partially torn tendon in his sprained right foot.
“My only message is simple,” Steinbrenner said in Tampa, Fla. “The National League needs to join the 21st century. They need to grow up and join the 21st century.”
Steinbrenner said he was angry and added: “I’ve got my pitchers running the bases, and one of them gets hurt. He’s going to be out. I don’t like that, and it’s about time they address it. That was a rule from the 1800s.”
He went on to babble:
“This is always a concern of American League teams when their pitchers have to run the bases and they’re not used to doing it,” Steinbrenner said. “It’s not just us. It’s everybody. It probably should be a concern for National League owners, general managers and managers when their pitchers run the bases. Pitchers have enough to do without having to do that.”
It will be a pleasure kicking his ass in his own ballpark...even if we have to use the stupid DH rule.

When Chase is DH
and he heals the sick while hitting the cycle with two grand-slams, he’ll be bitching that we should have to bat our pitchers!

I do believe
the DH rule was adopted in 1970, not the 1800s

Can you believe
they expect pitcher to run to first base to cover the bag? And they haven’t made bunting illegal yet.

It is unfortunate that Wang was injured in an activity that millions of children take part in every day- I guess we shouldn’t expect a pitcher to be able to run. Maybe a better solution would also be found with children- how about we let pitchers bat, but if they get on base, they are replaced with a ghost runner!

KickBall!
I use to love the Ghost runner.
“Ghost Runner on Third!”.
“You can’t have a Ghost Runner on Third!”
“Yeah I can, b/c you used a spinner to Leana last atbat, and we said no spinners to girls!”
We really need to organzie a Gaslampball Kickball outing.

I was in a league last year
it was fun, but you kick that red rubber ball as hard as you can and it just absorbs it. It’s hard to get much out of the shallow outfield. I liked it though.

We had a league at work
and we had a ton of fun with it. I actually managed to kick the bejesus out of the ball with regularity.
But the most fun part of kickball is nailing people while they’re sprinting home and watching them just completely eat it. Nothing like hitting a grown man in the knees and watching him go down in a tumble three feet shy of home.
