Smells Like Padres in Here - Monday Edition
Well, I guess it was a good weekend because we moved into third place, but everyone's is seemingly hurt and we sorta sucked yesterday.
According to the LA Times, Adrian is the "ideal star" for the Padres. (link sent via certain striking GLBer.)
Here's an interview with Larry Bowa. It would've been more interesting if he'd attacked the interviewer or something.
Today, the Padres and the Cubs play the last Hall of Fame Game ever. This would be important if the game meant anything. "Game" time is 11:00am PST.

Single A All Star Game
Looks like Ft Wayne will be without their top 3 players for the Hall of Fame game. The All Star game is Tuesday and their HR derby (which Felix Carrasco is competing in) will be held tonight in Midland, MI. I was trying to find out who the SP will be, but without figuring out the Ft Wayne starting rotation it will be hard to tell. However, if the Cubs are starting their regulars like Lou says on their website, then it might be a long first inning for some poor Single A pitcher (someone give that kid a raise). Of course the same could be said for the Peoria pitcher that has to face our regulars, except I’m not sure BB is going to send out more than just our reserves. Of course, with our injuries the only reserves that could use the playing time are Headley, Stansberry, Huber and Carlin.

He gave me his wristband after yesterday’s game. Seems like a really nice guy.

Is this Exhibition Rain Out
A good thing for us?
Or a bad thing for us?
Or is it more of a “Who cares?” thing for us?

I like our draw
Wolf, Peavy, Banks coming up. Our starting pitching is at least an advantage coming into New York, hopefully the day off for the bullpen gets them back on track.

Our starting pitching may be
But overall the Yankees (315) have allowed fewer runs than the Padres (324). I think that gets lost in the shuffle a lot. The Yankees pitching is bad compared to previous Yankees staffs, but it’s not horrible.

Barring catastrophe
Wolf v. Pettitte will be decided in the bullpens.
Peavy should be good enough for a win with the offense shows up.
I think Banks has the edge on Hype-berlain.

Agreed
I just felt like mentioning the state of the Yankees defense since I remember it coming up in the last OG thread some comments that equated their pitching to a AAAA staff. Your comment just happened to provide an opening for mine.
