Let the ripping begin

I voted PMac. Left-handed, low-power bat, below-average defender.

at least

his tubness and lack of swift movement won us a game…

you are in the negatives

when you subtract each game that he could be blamed for the loss

He brings nothing to the table except that he tries hard. As he well should.

For sure

It’s easier to pick the guys who aren’t worthless.

Khalil has a glove
Egon brings about potential BroBIs
and… Koooz is fun to yell.. I guess…

I’m aware that the latter two are only redeeming qualities to my personal entertainment.

yeah

and EGon kinda looks like the guy from Clerks, which is always entertaining. then again so does AGon.

for some reason i like Hu-Bombs too. no idea why, he has very few redeeming qualities. that throw half way up the first base line from a few nights ago worried me.

I think

Egon looks like a police sketch of Adrian

I’m ignoring Slippery Bob for now because I like the nickname “Slippery Bob,” he hit a HR that one time, and we only throw him in against lefties, days when we traditionally suck anyhow.

Agon

looks like George Lopez’s buddy Ernie from the show.

C’mon, google it. You put 40lbs on Agon, and that’s him.

Still waiting for "Baseball Today" to give the Padres some love.

holy crap he does

thats pretty funny

i've always thought that

everytime i watch George Lopez and he comes on i scream “ADRIAN!”

Trust me, death is the best argument for moisturizer.

OMG

I have always thought that. K, this is like one of the reasons I love glb

Edgar gets two votes

but Hairston gets none so far?

This poll was probably a bad idea.

I bet if Hoffy blew a save yesterday

He would be leading the votes

I'm not questioning the selections :)

Just making an observation on the surge of Huber votes. We barely see the guy, lol.

I can't believe Khalil

got 4 votes, but at least he’s not leading. I fully expect ‘Tec to start creating multiple aliases just to boost that total.

I voted for Huber

ASS!

Voted Khalil

His base hit didn’t impress me much. I’ve had to sit through and entire season of him sucking.

I’m so glad he never smiles. If I ever saw him smile while he’s swinging the bat like that, I’d have to buy a ticket to SD from PDX and….I don’t know. I’ll figure out what to do on the flight.

Still waiting for "Baseball Today" to give the Padres some love.

by momosanche on Jun 11, 2008 4:35 PM PDT reply actions

I really find it hillarious

that so many people get so worked up over one of the more docile and intelligent guys in all of baseball. There are people out there who seem to suggest by their invective that Khalil would like nothing more than to consistently make outs at the plate.

Sometimes it’s a good idea to step back and realize that a player on the team is not doing anything to deliberately affect you personally. It’s not like Khalil walks to the plate, sees a guy in the crowd and thinks, “I’m totally going to wave at this slider in the dirt to piss that guy off.”

I know I’m a huge Khalil fan. But seriously, do people really get THIS worked up over him? It’s not like the guy is a serial drug user and child mollester.

by Phantom on Jun 11, 2008 4:43 PM PDT up reply actions

Khalil walks to the plate

and thinks “I am going to swing at this slider in the dirt even though I know it’s going to be in the dirt because I’ve convinced myself that I am going to hit it and no one remembered to press the reset button on my control panel.”

by Winfield's Ghost on Jun 11, 2008 4:46 PM PDT up reply actions

Hah

On a serious note, does anyone hit sliders?

by Phantom on Jun 11, 2008 4:53 PM PDT up reply actions

Ichiro probably does

Chipper and Berkman seem to be hitting everything this year.

Point taken

but I think it is funny that you’re Khalil’s biggest fan and love his emotionless docile demeanor when you are the first to drop an F bomb or get totally worked up about just about anything except Khalil sucking.

by jbox on Jun 12, 2008 8:40 AM PDT up reply actions

I might swear

or post stupid things when I drink, but I think most of my outrage is genuine. I get pissed off about people being douche bags and national media outlets writing like ass.

I think genuine outrage can be cathartic. I try not to get too pissed off about what happens in a game unless it’s like one of our guys getting drilled or an absolutely horrible call by an umpire.

And please don’t confuse my swearing for outrage. It’s just one of the many ways I choose to articulate my positions, especially during an Open Thread.

by Phantom on Jun 12, 2008 9:47 AM PDT up reply actions

only everyday players??

so we have 13 position player on the roster, and 8 of them are on this pole. So five players are not worthless. (not counting DL)

1. Agon
2. B. Giles
3. Carlin
4. Tony Clark

why can’t I name the 5th player not on the list. And how does Tony and Carlin not get list?

Not as a pinch hitter he hasn't

I watched all 23 innings and all I got was this lousy signature.

by Wonko on Jun 11, 2008 6:58 PM PDT up reply actions

I left off Agon and Giles

since they couldn’t really be considered the most worthless and if you were voting for them then you were just messing around.

by jbox on Jun 12, 2008 8:41 AM PDT up reply actions

Wow, what a negative poll

Shouldn’t we be more supportive of the players on the team we love? And shouldn’t we all agree that PMac is the most worthless Padre? I can’t believe he’s only coming in second!

Snackanulty

I can’t honestly see any reason to vote for PMac, considering he is fifth on the team in EqA (THIRD among non-pitchers), and sixth in offensive VORP (Fifth among non-pitchers). He may not be a superstar, but he is far from worthless.

by osbug on Jun 12, 2008 12:21 PM PDT up reply actions

I looked at it like this

Who’s the guy we could get least for in a trade?

I think it’s PMac. He has done a lot better offensively, walking more than he strikes out now, but I still don’t like his “glove.”

I take it

this is your vote for most amazing player ever? In that case, I understand why Huber won. He is a true hero.
