Smells Like Padres in Here - Wednesday Edition
Well that certainly sucked. Listening to our outfielders after the game, you'd assume that they'd never played a night game before.
Matt Holliday is back for the Rockies so our chances of moving back down to the cellar just got better.
I love the stuff Hardball Times does. This is no exception and I can't wait until they break down our guy next week and tell us why he'll never make it out Double A.
This guy has us at #25 in his power rankings. Apparently, outfield play does not factor into his rankings.
The Wolf takes on Chad Billingsley tonight. Chase Headley will not be there. Note to outfielders - there will be more lights. Game time is 7:05pm PDT.

That was frustrating
since we pretty much beat ourselves last night. I almost liked it better when I didn’t expect them to win. Doesn’t hurt so much.

I can't believe you expect them to win
That’s funny.

They've been playing
significantly better than the Reds series. They’ve been playing more like I expect them to. Last night was way different than what they’ve been doing, which is why it sucked so bad.

Didn't see the game....
I was going Lakers (take THAT, Celtics!) But I cannot believe our guys are bitching about the lights. I thought the lights at the Q were the worst lights ever and all balls got lost in them, so Petco had the best lighting system that the PLAYERS wanted and now they are bitching about them just a few years later???? I guess out OF just sucks that bad…

Nobody is complaining about the lights
They are simply saying they lost track of the ball in the lights.
I don’t see any complaints, let alone “bitching,” about the lights. What are you reading?

That's how I read it too, Ax. Sucks that it happened but I didn't hear anyone complaining.

I only saw the top of the 1st
What happened in the 7th? Did Bud really need to go through 4 pitchers? Besides bad play in the outfileld, why did we lose by such a large margin?
Maddux have another quality start?

The usual
Runners left in scoring position, 2 out: Kouzmanoff 2; Greene; Hairston; Gonzalez, A.
Team LOB: 11.
Hairston: Caught Stealing & Picked off
We actually only hit in one of our own runs. Well, Adrian did. The rest relied on Dodger D to give us our other run.

the two man team...
Maddux on defense and Agon on offense? I did see Maddux catch a fly with his chopsticks on ESPN.

Power rankings
The guy who put us at 25 obviously doesn’t watch baseball. How could you put the D-Backs at 8? They go on a hot streak to start the year and it’s still working for them.
I’d put the Padres right about where they’re at though. 25 seems to be fair. I LOVE seeing the Mariners at 30 though. Good times. Good times.
Still waiting for "Baseball Today" to give the Padres some love.

Gerut and Hairston
Jody Gerut is hitting 3.64 over his last 14 games with a home run, five RBI, 10 R scored and 3 SB with a .440 OBP. He is also hitting .288 with a .380 OBP, 4th in the NL among leadoff batters with at least 80 AB.
Scott Hairston has gone 8 for 20 over his last 6 games, three multi-hit games, one 2B, two HR, two RBI, four R, and 46% of his hits are of the XBH variety.

Or
more excuses to not bring up Headley. Not that we had one, needed one, or were looking for one.
These two guys represent our best defensive outfield. Wow, there’s a depressing sentence to type.
Go ahead and try it yourself, I’ll wait.

I watched all 23 innings and all I got was this lousy signature.
