Smells Like Padres in Here - Tuesday Edition
Here's what the new guys can expect.
Josh Geer had a nice night.
The mailbag is back and the questions aren't horrible. Simple maybe, but not horrible.
Dodgers lost last night, but Penny "looks good."
Hardball Times gives us the 10 Worst Number 5 Hitters Since 1957 and a Padre is on the list.
Clemens had another way to get up for games.
Maddux takes on young Dodger phenom Clayton Kershaw tonight as make our move on third place. Game time is 7:05pm PDT.

is it bad
That I saw TK on that list and got excited that a Padre was number 2 at something?

I like it!
Nothing like starting your day with some coffee and a little early morning (it’s relative, ok) hatred!
I’m glad you didn’t put Manny on there. It’s too easy, plus I think he’s smarter than he pretends.
Chone Figgins, by all accounts, is a super nice guy so I might replace him with anyone of those DH (douche-hitters) that runs the bases sucking his jewelry, slapping his chest and pointing to the sky, like he’s gonna get beamed up any second!
Now I’m suitably riled, off to the freeway…

What to do?
So tonight, anything think it’s a good idea to start Tony Clark at first and give Adrian another day of rest?
Adrian went 3-20 over the weekend. :(
Tony Clark needs ABs if he’s going to be DHing here pretty quick.
Just throwing it out there.

I'm (somewhat) for it
Adrian looked pretty bad in the Mets series and Kershaw probably isn’t the easiest pitcher to break out with (lefty, never seen him before, nasty stuff), but it’s hard for me to say you SHOULD sit your star hitter vs. the Dodgers.
I watched all 23 innings and all I got was this lousy signature.

entirely in Stanley Nickels.

So you want to trade Chase. What would you want in return for our top prospect?

Will do.
I just know from watching him live here in PGE Park that the guy is special.
Now there are a TON of players who are only special in the minor leagues. But when Geer and Headley and Ready came up from San Antonio, it made it a whole lot more fun to go to the ballpark.
I say give him at least as many AB’s as Greene has had this year before we pass final judgement on the poor bloke.

I just felt this strange sensation as I started thinking about tonight's game
IT’S THE EFFING DODGERS! This sh!t means something. This is for bragging rights. This is for the NL West. This is a rivalry damnit. This means I need to watch out for smoke filled El Camino’s filled Dodgers fans on my way home.
I’m freaking out man! It needs to be game time.

No kidding
My pop and brother are Dodger’s fans. I’m the lone Padre in the tribe. It’s always a weird call when the Pads play the Dodgers.

From the Press Pass
MAC ATTACK: Paul McAnulty leads all Major Leaguers with a .421 as a left fielder (minimum 100 PA)
Kevin Towers is closing in on his 1,000th win as Padres GM (currently at 998)
We are almost back to .500! No, not that .500, .500 at home… lifetime (currently 1565-1568) – If we get back to it, it will be the first time since May 17, 1969. That didn’t take long…
Maddog needs 4 wins to tie Clemens on all-time MLB wins list.
And my favorite part:
Since the beginning of the 2002 season, the Padres have posted a 34-34 record vs. the Dodgers in San Diego. Over that span, the Padres are averaging over 8 hits and 4 runs a game while posting a 2.92 ERA (176 ER/542.0 IP)
The Padres have taken the season series against the Dodgers in each of the last two years and won the season series at home against Los Angeles in five of the last six years dating back to 2002.

It’s to the left of the porch in right field near the “K” guys and the stupid bandwagon “Q” guys.
An EXCELLANT vantage point for werth heckling!
Ups: They are free for a glb-er (‘tec inspired)
Downs: I’m in PB, you gotta come get ‘em!
