You can all play me as a bad guy or do whatver you want…. hell, have whatever opinion you want of me. My whole point yesterday was to disagree with a fellow GLB’er who (in my opinion) was proposing a trade that made zero sense. I never made it personal. I never made snide remarks.
I don’t believe I was alone in my disagreement with the original post, yet I’m the a-hole? Okay!! Whatever!! All I did was back it up, just like I back up this team!! I am not bashing the team as a whole, or individual players. Look back at all of my posts!!! I’m a fan, and an educated one at that, who doesn’t make snap judgements on players of the team I root for NO MATTER WHAT!!

I haven’t been paying much attention to the Flubs this year, unlike every other National Mag (note coming), but I just looked on Baseball-reference.com, and it says he has only 14 ABs this year.
I’m not sure if he’s injured, in Pinella’s doghouse, or that he also can’t beat out a DFA guy (Reed Johnson) for a starting job, but I am not seeing anything in his stats that scream out “I’m a starting major league outfielder”..... just like 3 of our starting 4 right now (counting Giles, Edmonds , and Hairston/PKeg).
That being said, I don’t know if you were asking directly about whether or not I’d deal Khalil for him, but if you were, I’d give you a resounding HELL NO!!
Note: In the checkout line at Albertson’s about 2 hours ago, I saw the current issue of SI, and it said something to the effect of “Kosuke Fukudome will break the Cubs World Series Drought”

I was asking everyone why Matt says “friar” instead of “friars”? I guess Jpleeg emailed him about that and he just said on air that some people at Gaslamp Ball wanted to know why he said that. So he said that he just likes to mix it up like the Cardinal for Stanford instead of Cardinals. also he said it gives the team more of a unifying name.

double edged sword
A TON of details that would have to be figured out i.e.:
- Which plays can it be used on?
- Is there a limited number of times it can be used (per team or per game)?
- Who calls for it? The manager or the “booth”??
And, after all that, you have the fact that there’s a majority out there that feel that baseball is already a hard enough sport to watch…. if you slow it down, i think it makes it even harder for those folks.
Being a purist, to a degree, I don’t like the idea.

it's super easy
you can’t argue balls and strikes. not even check swing strikes.
you can argue:
whether a batter is out at any base.
whether a ball lands fair or foul.
whether a homerun clears the wall.
whether a fielder cleanly catches or traps the ball
whether a runner tags up properly on a caught fly
Give each manager 2 challenges a game and 1 more if the game goes into extra innings. consider it a trip to the mound that inning whether the challenge is upheld or not.

the problem is
there really isn’t a concrete reason not to have it. It just is. Baseball is like that. To alot of people, baseball is like a mystical game full of wonderment and superstition and the like. they just want to keep it the way it is, so they can remember the old days of dimaggio, ruth, williams, so on and so on
