Smells Like Padres in Here - Wednesday Edition

Two game winning streak.

Jake is cleared to play...catch.  (I'm pretty sure that the paragraph on McAnulty's weight coming out of high school and propensity for Mexican food will be a hotter topic, though.)

But wait!  The U-T as usual is like twenty fours behind everything.  Jake threw yesterday and all was good.

Sullivan on Headley and the Super Two.  (I would use that analogy about beating a dead horse here, but everyone is so sensitive after Eight Belles.)

A nice piece on Carlin that I missed a few days back.

The NL West is a mess.

Shawn Estes takes on Odalis Perez tonight.  Odalis Perez is still in baseball?  Interesting.  (Nationals fans are probably saying the same thing about Estes.) Game time is 7:05pm PDT.

"Communication error"

He was thinking Mexican food, and instead of the Arby’s hat, it was a sombrero over his head.

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair. Douglas Adams

Odalis Perez

You know how, when people get old, their skin gets paper-thin?
“he cut his left thumb while throwing a breaking ball”.
Now, I’ve heard of a cutter, but how does this happen? Was there a nail file involved?

Glad to see

someone in the media admitt that Headley’s staying in Portland solely to avoid Super Two status.

I think solely is harsh

According to the Portland media, Headley still needs a lot of work in left field. And didn’t Sullivan write an article with exactly the opposite premise earlier this year?

I watched all 23 innings and all I got was this lousy signature.
