Open Thread, 5/25: Some dudes pretending to be the Padres vs the Reds
Cincinnati Reds at San Diego Padres, May 25, 2008 1:05 PM PDT
Open Thread shows up sometime in the third, which is when half the Padres will show up and the other half will decide to leave. They'll probably win today, but it will be an empty feeling because it will mean a lower draft pick in the broken system that is the Major League Baseball Draft. It's a good thing the Compadres Club cost $10 to join this year because the club will have to make up the money in lost concessions somehow.
Go yay!

centerfield

The problem being that now if Trevor holds here and the game is tied – one of those guys now has to pitch in a much higher leverage situation in extras. I would prefer to see them earlier rather than later.

Banks Has Been
Way more efficient though, hence the more IP with fewer pitches.

Help Me
I’m following this game on ESPN. How did Encarnacion “pop up” into a double play. Wasn’t the infield fly rule in effect?
Runner took off on the pitch.
The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world.
so
It’s not a double play, It’s a popped out and a caught stealing or pickoff, right?
And what Dex said.
But the runner would not get immunity to return to the base in either case.
The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world.
Yeah
You would need the hidden immunity idol for that.

Wouldn't it, though?
Guys yanking up the bases, digging holes in the infield – would be awesome.

So,umm.yeah
You know, when Alex’s 2nd tournament game begins at 3:45 in Temecula, and the Padres game starts at 1:00pm, you pretty much assume that you will miss the Padres game (and this season, that is not such a bad thing). Instead, we’ve been home for 30mins now after stopping at the grocery and now dinner is cooking and here we are relaxing and watching the Padres!!!
This team just kills me with the strikeouts though.
Imagine if you'd had to watch all those strikeouts
by Winfield's Ghost on May 25, 2008 6:49 PM PDT up reply actions
I feel for you guys
I think driving back and forth to Temecula and sitting in alternating hot and cold weather through two games is exhausting….at least I didn’t SEE the 7 straight strikeouts. I only listened to them.
At least Alex’s team won both their games and plays on tomorrow..meaning more driving…
oh my word
i can’t believe this game is still going on… but then again, i can.
why can’t we just score?
"i kinda feel like nevin and klesko were some fling we (the padres) had in the past and now realize were a bad idea and are embarrassed about."
