Around SBN: Ellenberger vs. Sanchez Heats Up, Hughes Talks Retirement

Open Thread, 5/25: Some dudes pretending to be the Padres vs the Reds

Cincinnati Reds at San Diego Padres, May 25, 2008 1:05 PM PDT

Open Thread shows up sometime in the third, which is when half the Padres will show up and the other half will decide to leave. They'll probably win today, but it will be an empty feeling because it will mean a lower draft pick in the broken system that is the Major League Baseball Draft. It's a good thing the Compadres Club cost $10 to join this year because the club will have to make up the money in lost concessions somehow.

Go yay!

centerfield

and i bat leadoff. we need pitching. it’s what kills us. americans are only allowed to pitch 4 innings, then a swede has to come in. so it’ll be like 2 to 2 in the 4th, then by the 9th it’ll be like 13-11 or whatever.

No.

It was just embarrassingly bad. He got the call because you just can’t touch the catcher while he’s making a throw.

Yeah.

No touchy. Catcher has the right of way to make the attempted throw.

If Gerut wasn’t trying to steal, it would have been ok. Any touching in that event would be deemed appropriate.

You know, when Alex’s 2nd tournament game begins at 3:45 in Temecula, and the Padres game starts at 1:00pm, you pretty much assume that you will miss the Padres game (and this season, that is not such a bad thing). Instead, we’ve been home for 30mins now after stopping at the grocery and now dinner is cooking and here we are relaxing and watching the Padres!!!

This team just kills me with the strikeouts though.
