Nothing good has happened to this team since

the moment Milton Bradley stepped on Mike Cameron’s hand and subsequently had his ACL torn in half in that same game. That was such a freak set of occurrences, it seemed we might never see such thing again in our lifetime….

Only to be quickly followed by: Tony Gwynn Jr., Hoffman meltdowns, Holliday not touching the plate, Milton then leaving, Jim Edmonds, Peavy on the DL, Christ Young’s face destroyed in the same inning as Josh Bard goes down probably for the season….

Um. What’d I miss? I’m dangerously close to sounding like a Cubs fan, complaining about cows and goats and black cats and such.

Dumb

Sorry to be a downer, but that was a high risk/low reward play. We had the batter at two strikes and two outs. If that ball gets by Adrian, then it’s a run.

by BeantownFriar on May 21, 2008 9:00 PM PDT up reply actions

I'll disagree

for the simple fact that we’re down four runs and exactly ZERO teams have any fear of our catchers’ arms.

Brian Barton's Higher Calling

Cardinals’ Barton is a space case,Yahoo Sports

One day, he wants to go into space. Brian Barton turned 26 earlier this week, and though the astronaut dream tends to die about the time hormones bloom and adolescence rages, Barton never could abandon it. “The sky’s the limit,” he likes to say, and in this instance, he does so standing in front of his locker in the St. Louis Cardinals’ clubhouse. He takes the cliche literally and figuratively, the former in his desire to float in the atmosphere and the latter in the career he has carved out in the meantime.

Bad things happen to good people like CY and Bardo
The Padres suck even worse when those bad things happen
Wally Joyner needs to sell more organic chocolate to pay for that fine he earned tonight
Albert Pujols is the root of all evil.

Finally!

jeez! the game moved quickly thru the first 3 then slowed to a snails pace!! I hope Chris heals quickly and Bardo gets better. Bring Barrett, Headley and the lot up

That would actually be kind of awesome

Briefly. I would eventually want A-Gon, E-Gon, Kouz, Gooch, Giles and Greene back.

I've got 20 plus opening day

And I’m 1-4 so far.

I’m going to 9 road games.

I’m 0-2 so far.

I watched all 23 innings and all I got was this lousy signature.

Bud Black tells press

that they will know more about CY in 24-48 hours but Josh Bard is for sure on DL
and will know more with MRI tomorrow.

But CY is concious

Can we get a bodyguard on A-Gon, stat?

Being the best player we have right now, he’s in line to have something horrible happen to him.

and some intense safety gear

So who are we calling up?

A pitcher and a catcher?

Headley?

The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world.

by Axion on May 21, 2008 10:48 PM PDT reply actions

Probably Morton since he's on the 40 man

Pitcher only gets called up if CY goes on the DL, which isn’t certain. It could be Hensley, Wells or Banks.

Kentera says...

I know, but I heard they weren't going to activate him.

flying in tonight

but they haven’t made a decision on if he is gonna be activated

they wanted to talk to the staff in portland and see how he was doing

and probably see him throw a bit first

I'm really bummed too

I’m just kind of moping about the house. Even more so than when they just lose.

“No structural damage.”

Please.
